OT: Most memorable thing(s) you remember about your days as a student

It's so, and they're really good if you fry (grill) them in a frying pan with lots of butter, just the way the Dinner did them back in the day. Oh, and put a lid on the frying pan so it will be nice and moist when it's hot. Yum!
Thanks for the tips.........but sorry to hear that grilled stickies aren't a thing at the diner anymore. The Corner Room looked a little worse for the wear last time I was there too. That used to be a place I couldn't afford as a student, but my parents always took me to, and it always seemed like a treat.

OSU player not suspended for 1st half

Why didn't they just reverse it on the field? They reviewed it forever, what is new now to change it on Monday? Is this common to reverse a targeting call two days later? They are all reviewed. What is the process? Is this the result of OSU complaining up a storm? Or did some head official look at this for the first time today and say it wasn't targeting? Just get the call right to begin with.
Many stupid calls are upheld on review unfortunately. Jordan Fuller's scoop and score touchdown in Clemson playoff game (receiver took 2 steps before hit) was taken away on review. I haven't read all of the comments here, but here is a link to the play. Login to view embedded media
OSU won the appeal by going to the NCAA football rules editor. Reese didn't lead with his head and hit the receiver's shoulder causing a fumble which was recovered by OSU. If the play had been correctly called the game would have been over. I would add that I worked for a consumer law firm for a couple of years and one of the lawyers was a big ten referee. He was not a very impressive person and was easily in the bottom 1/4 of lawyers.

(Later addition to post) Here is a better summary.
"
"Ohio State filed an appeal to the Big Ten Conference on behalf of Arvell Reese's action in the fourth quarter of the game," an Ohio State spokesperson said Monday, via Bucknuts. "The Big Ten went to the NCAA Football Secretary Rules-Editor and, after review, it was determined that this was not targeting. Subsequently, Arvell's suspension for the first half versus Penn State is vacated."

Officials flagged Reese for targeting on a hit that was not initiated with the crown of his helmet, but did make contact near the head of Banks, who was deemed defenseless on the play. Replay review upheld the call and ejected Reese from the game. Because it occurred during the second half, by rule, Reese was initially issued a suspension for the first half against Penn State this Saturday." https://247sports.com/article/ohio-...,of the Buckeyes' upcoming game at Penn State.

Don't see how a receiver trying to advance the ball can be viewed as defenseless.

OT: Most memorable thing(s) you remember about your days as a student

Senior year a friend and I took wine technology and appreciation as an elective (Food Science class)......sounded interesting and we thought it was a blow off course and a chance to taste good wine, even though the prof warned us at the beginning of the first class it wasn't. It actually was an excellent class and a bit more technical than my friend anticipated. He earned a D and almost didn't graduate. Nevertheless, I appreciated my Arts and free elective requirements at PSU in broadening my perspective on life. Same with my Theater class and being exposed to many great performances.

OSU player not suspended for 1st half

While true, THIS instance isn't the one where I would be here saying it.

The video of this incident appears to be targeting via the rules. There is actually nothing that I can see in the video shown here (you may bring forth another for discussion) to say this isn't targeting.

For this to be appealed AND won, it's almost like the conference is saying "we don't think 2nd half targeting penalties should carry over into the following games 1st half."

Another rule change coming perhaps?
I mean, this is the official statement "The Big Ten went to the NCAA Football Secretary Rules-Editor and, after review, it was determined that this was NOT targeting."
But maybe we see a rule change

Football Latest on QB Drew Allar's injury status for Saturday's game

In the scenario I laid out, which will never happen, I think you see:

Oregon 13-0
Georgia 12-1
Miami 13-0
BYU 13-0
Boise St. 12-1

Iowa St. 12-1 (lost CCG)
Pitt 12-1 (lost CCG)
ND 11-1
Indiana 11-1 (loses to OSU)

OSU 11-2 (lost CCG)
Texas 11-2 (lost CCG)
Alabama 10-2 (beats LSU)

Those 12 all make it.

These guys are out:

PSU 10-2 (loses to OSU and an imaginary team - I guess Minny)
Texas A&M 10-2 (loses to Texas)
Tennessee 10-2 (loses to Georgia)
Clemson 10-2 (loses to Pitt)
Kansas St. 10-2 (loses to ISU)

Penn State and Bama is a coin toss
None of Pitt/Iowa State and Indiana is guaranteed a spot over us in that either
We'd almost certainly be ahead of Pitt
But if this is what has to happen--we're a lock

I was simply pointing out that calls don't always go OSU's way.

Football Latest on QB Drew Allar's injury status for Saturday's game

It's starting to look like 2 loss teams aren't safe and PSU doesn't have a difficult schedule. 11-1 Indiana would go before 10-2 PSU. The ACC could easily get 2 teams (Miami, Clemson, Pitt). ND is pretty much a lock at this point unless they lose to USC.

4 SEC (GA, aTm, Tenn, Texas, LSU, Bama)
3 BiG (Oregon, OSU, PSU, Indy)
2 ACC (Miami, Clemson, Pitt)
1 BiG 12 (BYU & Iowa State are undefeated)
Mountain West (Boise State)
ND
PAC 12 (Washington State could finish with only 1 loss)
AAC (Army or Tulane - Probably not but a 1 loss conference champ might be more attractive than a 4th place 2 loss team from the SEC or BiG)

That's 13. It's not a prediction but some 2 loss teams are going to be left out.
Tennessee is likely done (2 losses and still play GA )

Alabama or LSU will take their third loss this weekend.

Don’t overlook a 1-loss SMU (BYU) vs Pitt this weekend. There isn’t much left on their schedule after this game. I wonder what the tiebreakers are for the conference championship game if there is three undefeated in conference?

OT: Most memorable thing(s) you remember about your days as a student

I was so poor because I was putting myself through college, and PSU so computer illiterate back in the day, that I ended up taking 27 credits in fall 1985 to graduate in December of that year. I can't imagine anyone else ever doing that. Otherwise, I would have graduated in 1986 as well.

Going to Ye Olde College Diner at 4-5am for breakfast after pulling an all nighter was a rite of passage.

I remember the goal post nights. My first summer, I worked at the Admissions office, and every day I used to walk past Todd Blackledge as he walked to the broadcasting building. They beat Georgia and Herschel that year.

My biggest regret is missing the 36-6 drubbing of Notre Dame in 1985. I actually had applied to the CIA, and they gave us a 5 hour test that day. Glad I missed the rain, but nothing beats killing Notre Dame.
I started the Fall of 81, went two years as an engineering student but after failing Physics twice I decided I should change to business and actually went to the Wilkes-Bare campus for a year 83-84 (lived at home and saved some money while taking some freshman business classes) then back to Main for 84-86. I could have graduated in the Fall of 85 but figured i would have two easier semesters and go out on a high note.
Dave Paterno was on my dorm floor for one year, saw his family (Sue and his brother Scott) often. For our last semester he had Joe come and give a short talk in our study hall. It was supposed to just be our floor but of course news got out and the study hall was packed. Joe stayed and took pictures and signed things until everyone got to meet him.

How about 25 cent fries after midnight at CC Peppers? We would go, spend a dollar, and have a tray full of fries.

The Nebraska game was around the time that the phrase Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche, came out. I remember signs saying Nebraska eats quiche!

The ND rain game was my last as a student, i stayed in that soaking rain for every minute! Cars were stuck all over the parking fields.

No comments on Drew cussing out a fan?

Nick Sirianni did worse as a HC more than twice Drew's age before apologizing
Neal Brown basically told WVU fans to stop complaining and just have fun at the games before apologizing
Ron Artest tried to kill a fan at The Palace
Eric Dier of Tottenham literally climbed over seats to fight someone
Quentin Jefferson tried to climb into the stands to fight someone in Jacksonville
QBs and players respond to fans--and not always in a positive way--it happens--this was just "jawing"--not a big deal
Bill Burr had a great bit about Artest
