Landon Tengwall is confident that Allar has a Grade 1 MCL injury.

Based on that video alone, I don't think Allar is starting on Sat. Notice that he doesn't twist or pivot his leg when he turns. He's probably ok going in a straight line but only in a straight line.
He may not yet be permitted to do so by the medical staff and coaches.

He does not have to perform that type of stress test - yet.

2024/25 roster is now posted on GoPSU

I can’t see Alex beating 3rd place Kasak, but will be fun to see it play out
Still a wild assumption by me, but Kasak listed as 149/157 tells me, Alex has the spot and Kasak shirts.

There is very little logic to Kasak being listed as a tweener or in time certifying at 149 if he is a full go at 157, even if he remains undersized for 157.

I am happy for Alex other than I do have concerns that, that kind of cut will eventually catch up to him, weither it be injury or gas tank, it won't be a walk in the park year for him. If he fails some early tests, maybe Kasak gets pulled back in, but for now, I will agree with the BEG guys. I'll take Alex for 500 Alex.

A question that I haven’t heard many people mention.

Is having Allar play this week risking further injury worth it?

If we lose this game, our playoff hopes are still alive. Drew is not going to be 100% so we’re not even sure that he would be better than Beau this week. Will Allar be able to run when he needs to? How mobile will he be in the pocket?

Many say that OSU’s defensive style is much more schemed to stop passing QBs rather than running QBs.

Plus for Allar’s NFL hopes, risking further injury is part of the equation as well.
Lose?

Depends on whether he just has a little pain and stiffness that doesn't affect his maneuverability or throwing, or is actually limited or hesitant. If he's restricted much at all, he should sit. We need him to be able to move in the pocket like he did on the 4th down play against USC and run when things aren't there. His ability to scramble when it is there can really hurt OSU.

I want him ready to go because OSU can be schemed to give up the deep ball. As we know Coach K is good at scheming.

Is Tangwell right and this is the mcl tear the proper diagnosis? Any time you sprain a knee or ankle there is some tearing of the knee or ligament surrounding that joint. The extent and location of the tear determines the treatment necessary.

They have some excellent knee braces today that certainly can help prevent further injury. But it's certainly not like a deep bruise which you can play through if you can endure the pain.

If DA is cleared to play by the medical staff, then the coaches and trainers will evaluate his ability to move and defend himself perhaps on Friday, or even game day morning.

And the staff could know that it's going to take an additional week for him to get healthy and this approach forces OSU's DC to focus on a more diverse attack.

And that's in addition to what OC AK is cooking up that their DC has to prepare for.

Yes, he can absolutely make the existing injury worse.
My non-professional take from the practice videos is that the doctors are not currently overly concerned, or else he would not have been executing some of the passing footwork which was clearly displayed to everyone with eyes.

You do understand that there is a difference between being hurt and being injured, right? And you do realize that you have no idea what his medical status is now, or more importantly Saturday, correct?

The way that people latch onto internet speculation/gossip is truly terrifying!!!

Big Ten Apologizes To Nebraska

In the real world this particular play should be made part of the empolyee review and a plan of correction should be created and monitored. Another occurence would allow for the particular official to be removed from Division I football officiating and placed in the division III snack stand making walking Tacos.
Would an official ever make it past a year on the job?
I'm all for accountability but these things should be fixed with replay. Mistake live are inevitable.
