Football Penn State opens as 4.5-point underdogs versus Ohio State

Dog at home against 1 loss team. Difference between elite and good.
That's what half game performances and lack of detail produce.

Psu has yet to play a game for all 4 quarters and we are on game 8.

Gutsy win but the signs of 2 losses are there. Not to be a negative Nancy but the trend is there.
After OSU I don’t see a team that is even close to PSU with or without Allar.

Football INSTANT REACTION: Jaylen Reed, Beau Pribula save the day against Wisconsin

For certain, Beau made some beautiful throws yesterday that Drew would have never attempted. Drew plays very safe and regularly requires a receiver to have significant seperation before he throws. This maybe why we as fans often question the legitimacy of our receivers. Simply Beau is more of a risk taker versus Drew. Just a thought.

I agree and almost posted those thoughts within the game thread. Drew did not play his best game yesterday. He was tentative. Wisconsin played zone and we had open receivers. In some of the other games this year Drew hit receivers as they were coming open. Not yesterday.

Beau came in and just threw it. My guess is that there will be a cost for that against OSU with their better athletes, but there is also a cost for not throwing at all.

If he plays which Allar shows up? He probably won't be scrambling. Does Pribula get conservative? (My guess is no, unless he gets picked off.) Should be interesting.

I don't expect to win, primarily because we are not deep enough at linebacker. Have yet to see this team match up well in zone coverage, and OSU has the receivers to beat man coverage.

Allar was 14/16 yest, and really 15/16 with Fleming drop

Last pass sailed due to knee injury (to open Wallace). Great job by whole team in a hostile and loud atmosphere. Pribula rose to the moment as did D in second half. 30 second half points all season in 7 games! Lots of Penn Staters celebrated all over Madison. So proud of this team and can’t wait for Nov 2 to be loud and proud!! Biggest home game in a long time with a lot on the line

Do we have the dreaded 'quarterback controversy'?

A couple of thoughts:

First off, congrats to Beau on a gutsy and skilled 2nd half performance against a formidable defense and in a very hostile environment!
He made some good reads and quality throws into tight windows.

If we proceed next week with BP at QB, I do have a couple of concerns.

The first thing is that he will face a defense that is designed to stop him and the things that he excels at vs DA and his skill set.

Secondly, BP is certainly willing, but his build combined with the way that he plays could makes PSU susceptible to being introduced to QB3 prematurely.

It will definitely be interesting to observe as the week progresses.

I would imagine that OSU's DC will have to put in a defensive plan for both QB's just in case DA's injury turns out to be not too serious and he was held out for precautionary purposes....
OSU will have to prepare playing against both QB's.
