Not addressing the BG TE vs Warren ( although it is inexplicable that Warren was omitted), was addressing the glaringly apparent vested self interest of ESPN tied directly to their primary audience (SEC). —Direct financial ties are not arguable. Bias pervades financial interest. You nailed it! That's exactly why a Big Ten TE didn't make the list, but one from the SEC powerhouse, Bowling Green, did. Friggin' ESPN. They can't put one past ole jimarnp, though!
👍👍👍espn, stopped reading ........
There were a lot of people in that boat, to be fair.He was critical of Sunderland when he was the PSU coach as well.
The 1st team LB squad is generally performing good to very good. King is a stud athlete and smart veteran LB, Rojas is a stud athlete who is learning to be a smart LB ( he can get stuck in traffic, and/takes bad angles), Deluca is a good athlete and smart LB with excellent instincts…he often “sees” where the play is going before anyone else. I think our back ups are fair to good. I believe Franklin will have Speca and the other freshman play against Wiscy, OSU, and Minny, as we will need their athleticism in the back up roles. JMO.What is the general consensus of how we are performing from this position group? I could not watch the USC game live until the last 6 minutes of regulation so I have not had a chance to do an evaluation of how the LBs played. Clearly the 75 yard reverse was not good but wondering about the game as a whole. I'm thinking they were only average as the USC RB Marks had a big game and they put up good offensive numbers. Was there anything the LBs were not doing?
How did Rojas look, is he improving or not? Who else played meaningful snaps beyond, Rojas, King and Deluca? Robinson, Nelson?
Finally, anyone have any idea on the status of Wylie?
I was so depressed the following morning. Those Sooner teams were roided to the max. What an outlaw program Barry (the Bootlegger's Son) Switzer ran.Orange Bowl loss to Sooners the year prior primed the pump for sure....experience is hard to replace
17 of the 25 were Big Ten/SEC with the SEC having one more. The top 3 were MWC ACC and Big XII. Where's the SEC bias?ESPN has been medicated with SEC “Financial suppositories “ for several years now. They have a vested interest that creates bias.
He was critical of Sunderland when he was the PSU coach as well.A bitter, bitter man
ESPN has been medicated with SEC “Financial suppositories “ for several years now. They have a vested interest that creates bias.So the nitwits at ESPN produced their list of the 25 current top players in college football. See link. They ranked Abdul Carter as number 22. They didn't rank Ty Warren!! The only TE ranked was the tight end from fricken Bowling Green. What a joke!
This should be a “ which one is not like the others “ question . While I agree with most of your post, 2021 is not like the others. We were manhandling Iowa until our most important offensive player and most important ( arguably) defensive player were injured, and left the game. This also directly affected the MSU game. With these players uninjured, we very likely would have beaten both of those teams handily, and had a good season. —That said, we will absolutely get a steadily improving Wisconsin team’s best game….at a difficult stadium to play in. ( This also goes for upcoming Minnesota )The afterglow of Saturday is finally fading a bit, and like most of you, I'm analyzing our chances after the bye and beyond. And history tells us to be afraid of PSU's performance in this very position.
2017--Lose heartbreaker in Columbus. Hardly drop in the polls, but we go to a less talented #24 MSU team the next week, endure an ungodly storm delay, and fritter the game away. Most talented Franklin team wasted.
2018--Lose heartbreaker to OSU in Happy Valley. Get a bye. Come out flat after a bye week against unranked MSU team and lose again. No more top 10 ranking that season for us...
2019--8-0 and ranked #3 in the country. Coming off bye week, we travel to #17 Minnesota and lay an egg.
2021--start a solid 5-0 and ranked #4. Travel to #3 Iowa and lose a heartbreaker. Bye week...and come home and lose the worst game in PSU history, 9OT against a terrible Illinois team.
Three AWFUL performances that wasted our potential for the season coming right after a bye week...and all four seasons saw us lose to teams we should have beaten. I hope Franklin has learned from these trials and is determined to keep his players sharp physically and mentally because this road game to Wisconsin is by far our biggest TRAP game of the season
True but Kirby beat them once when it mattered the most so it's less of a problem.Kirby Smart is now 1-6 vs Alabama (and he’s never beaten them in the regular season). Sometimes it helps to not have the team you can almost never beat on the schedule every season.
