Tesla - exited short sale

a few months back there was alot of Tesla stock in a few threads. I went short on the stock and made about $40 per share on this short, but could not hang on - company is a tweet away from some irrational move. one my investor friends has some real b&lls and is set to short them @ $150. he is convinced they are running out of other people's money, and has alot of guts. his logic is they cannot make affordable cars at a profit, and it is not related to being a startup - they are over 10 years old. they are a car company that is not good at cars.

i have moved to the ride hailers (Uber and Lyft) and some of the food delivery guys (they are really over hyped). i hesitated on Uber two weeks ago - and they just came through with a $5.3B loss for this qtr - mostly stock comp, but still a big business loss. stock took 6.8% hit. i thought a $35 short would be great but now the stock is $40.

NCAA loses 3rd Circuit Court appeal

I don't pretend to know the ins and outs but from what I can tell, the NCAA got smoked. It wasn't a close call. Basically, are entitled to all of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rights and considerations.

Dont sell our opening game short

There have been a rash of articles in recent weeks declaring how good WVU will be this season. Their OL/O in general kept us busy last year.
Their D mostly kept us in check. And I believe Phil Steele thinks they will be a team to watch.

Considering opening games - especially on the road - can be fraught with surprise, I expect this to be a tough one, where a few chinks in our armor will be identified, and exploited. So it will be incumbent upon our coaching staff to show an ability to adjust/adapt/ respond to unexpected challenges, such as trailing in the 2nd half.

But this will also be the chance several players are looking for , to step up, stand out, and make a difference. It could well be a window into the future of the season. Getting your nose shoved into the mud on opening day can get your attention.

Taz Williams OV'ing to Baylor Now??

I sh1t you not...lol. I cant link but the other day on twitter Taz's close friend and former teammate Kamauryn Morgan committed to Baylor on July 7. On July 2 Taz put out a tweet saying, "where we going twin" in reference to Kamauryn. People thought hmmm. Then Kamauryn committed July 7 and it seemed Taz was just screwing around. Apparently NOT. There is a Baylor article and tweet from Baylor Insider Grayson Grundhoefer saying Taz is OV'ing to Baylor July 29.

Is this going to be another Alvin Henderson BS commitment or Kiandre Barker who's commitment is about as solid as my mid section?

NIL and the portal has ruined this f'kn game!

Film Study - Inside the Mind of Drew Allar

DREW ALLAR FILM STUDY

See link above. Video covers Allar's ability to cycle through progressions, read defenses, timing, mechanics, willingness to pass up low-hanging fruit in favor of bigger plays, and other fun stuff.

1st half of Video: Positive plays. 2nd half: Negative plays. A ton to unpack in this one. Lots of tangents - some oft-repeated on this board, some I'd never heard discussed before with plenty of different examples illustrating why the 2023 passing game was the way it was and why Allar's end-of-year statistics were so confusing and even polarizing.

Gleason

I don’t recall this movie being discussed here. It’s currently on Amazon. I watched earlier this week and was stunned that I had never even heard of Steve Gleason. It’s the uplifting story of a man who against insurmountable odds has found meaning in his life when there was zero hope, and has positively affected many other people in the process. If you’ve seen it, I’d like to know your thoughts, if you haven’t, I’d highly recommend it.

Defining a blue blood?

Saw Andy Staples discussing this. They came to the conclusion that a blueblood is a program that has to have at least three generations of top tier performances with one of them being recent and that you have to have won a national title.

Here are the programs he listed as current bluebloods: Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Penn State.

He listed as "contenders": Florida State, LSU, Clemson, Nebraska, Miami, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Oregon

I'd knock Notre Dame down to the "almost but not quite blueblood." It's been too long since the national titles. They're very good, but not quite elite in my mind. I guess you have to have Michigan as a current blueblood, but honestly I think I'd replace them with LSU. Florida State and Oregon are the closest to moving up to blueblood status in my opinion (FSU used to be there, but needs to win one under Norvell to get back). Clemson is tough. I think they need to do it under a coach besides Dabo to earn that spot. They've basically had one generation of incredible football. Nebraska has no place on this list. They've been awful for nearly a decade now and I don't think anybody under the age of 35 remembers them being one of the powerhouses. And I don't really see the path back for them.

What’s your pre-game routine?

Some summer banter to pass the time til Morgantown….

What’s your pre-game routine??

We’re Coming from Philly area - takes @3.5 hours - we take 322W - like to get there 3-4 hours ahead of time to avoid the headache of traffic
-usually tailgate a little and really like to see the team come in
-Try to get a ‘high five’ from Coach Franklin (quick story - one time he passed me, came back and apologized, and gave the high five)
-like to walk up Curtain Ave to see the displays, food etc but there’s less appealing stuff now than there used to be
-get a ‘Game day’ Collegian - roster for the game - articles post game
-go in the stadium @1.5 hours before kickoff - like to watch both teams warmup, especially the QBs and kickers
-sometimes go to the tunnel to watch the team come out, that gets a little wild
-get to seats (WJ), watch the Blue Band, cheer on PSU to victory
