Linebacker Play & Injury Status of Wylie

What is the general consensus of how we are performing from this position group? I could not watch the USC game live until the last 6 minutes of regulation so I have not had a chance to do an evaluation of how the LBs played. Clearly the 75 yard reverse was not good but wondering about the game as a whole. I'm thinking they were only average as the USC RB Marks had a big game and they put up good offensive numbers. Was there anything the LBs were not doing?

How did Rojas look, is he improving or not? Who else played meaningful snaps beyond, Rojas, King and Deluca? Robinson, Nelson?

Finally, anyone have any idea on the status of Wylie?

Super 32. October 12th-13th

PSU has Nathan Desmond, Dalton Perry, and Asher Cunningham competing. The toughest weight looks to be 144 with the top 8 seeds all being ranked in the top 10. Also has likely the biggest possible matchup between Bassett and Zepeda. Their series sits at 1-1 right now

126 and 120 are also super tough and probably the 2 deepest weights. I’m excited to see Desmond compete. He seems to be jumping levels almost every time out so I’d love to see him vs Knox, Seidel, and the 2 CA hammers Ronnie Ramirez and Moses Mendoza.

Asher has the number 2 seed at 165 behind Bambinelli. Pretty sure Bambinelli just beat him at the Elite 8 duals but I’m not sure. Claudio Torres and Cael Weidemoyer are a couple other top guys at the weight.

A few other possible big matches are Jax vs Mendoza round 5, Villasenor vs Munnaretto and Vega vs Gorman rematches from WNO. Also 157 has a great top 5 of Miller, Routledge, Rath, Bouzakis, and Contino. Should be some great matches between that group

My USC Gameday Experience

Here's my write-up of our trip.
TLDR - Above expectations. Nice campus. "Unique" tailgating setup. Friendly fans. Old stadium. One of the best games in recent memory.

A great win on many levels

This was never gonna be an easy game. USC is a good team. They have a lot of good players. And their season was on the line.

But dealing with adversity...coming from two TD's back...putting Drew in a position where he had to lead the team in the 2nd half in order to overcome the deficit...these are all very important things going forward.

I feel like we now have the inside track for a playoff spot, regardless of what happens against Ohio State in early November.

But it won't be automatic. We need to show up in every game the rest of the way. As it stands, we'll be favored to win all of them except the one against the Buckeyes.

First trap game: in Madison coming off our bye next week. Wisconsin is a good team and we need to go in there ready for a war.

A lot of guys came up big today. I do wish I knew what's going on with Nick Singleton. Something about the way they used him and the way he performed today raises questions.

That aside, winning a big game...a pressure game...after falling behind...on the road...and in the process holding on to a top-5 ranking...taken together means a lot.

Bye Week Stats (so far)

Just something to view and discuss. These stood out to me.

-Warren has 40 receptions. Tre, Evans, Fleming and Cliff have 48 COMBINED. Warren is our #1 target.

-only allowed 6 sacks. Credit to Traut, the new tackles, and Drew!
