Penn State has several flip targets in the 2025 class that it is still after. I highlight a few of these battles here, including Lex Cyrus, Brandon Finney, Bradley Gompers and Zahir Mathis:

She sends me a text at noon. “Come for dinner with family at 5:00 PM.”

Me “Sure as long as you put game on I will drive over at half time “

Leave house…… losing 20-6. Not happy.

Eat dinner no game as grandkids are watching some movie they have already seen a dozen times.

Around 8:00 she says “ want to see the final score?” And slides over her phone…..score showing USC on top 23-30!

Get home at 10:30, don’t look at anything and go to bed heartbroken.

Brother calls me this morning and while talking about game and I figure out we won!

I’m curious to see how the new format will effect the NY6 bowl games’ financials and the economic impact on the host cities.

Teams and fans used to come into town early and enjoy several days of activities. They’d fill up hotels, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. They’d buy a ton of merch. The Bowls would host and manage a lot of the logistics.

Fans would travel knowing this might be the last time they see their team. Now, most will have to decide which, if any, Bowls they will attend. Do they just attend their home game if they’re lucky? Ticket sales at the Bowls will be impacted.

Teams will end up eating the tickets they are required to buy.

Will the bands travel to each Bowl game?

The list goes on. There is no doubt that these games have become “made for TV” productions. It will be interesting to see how that impacts the “in person” experience. 🤔

Let the countdown begin.

We are 10 long days from the start of the wrestling season. November 1 kicks off with 11 dual meets (I know, I know. PSU doesn't compete until 11/16 & 17, but bear with me).

What is at stake this season?

• Sadly, for the first time since 2019 there are no wrestlers working on becoming four-timers (I am not counting Ferrari until the NCAA confirms he received an Oly RS).
• But there is one wrestler working on becoming a five-timer. Not that anyone around here cares, but he is a little know wrestler who goes by Carter Starocci.
• PSU returns what I believe to be a record number of points from the prior tournament at 130.
• But having lost 42.5 points across 3 weights, getting to 173 is still in doubt.
• Cael Sanderson has a shot to tie or beat the all-time record for individual champions. At 40 he stands just 5 behind Dan Gable's 45.
• In other news, NC State is looking to win their seventh straight ACC title.
• Appalachian State goes for its third straight SoCon.

What else am I missing?

Well, it's after 0300 and I can't sleep (again). 32 years of shift work in law enforcement has taken its toll on my sleep patterns. Since I'm up and have nothing better to do, I thought I'd start a new thread, if you all don't mind. In reading many of the comments on this Forum, I get the feeling there are many of us here who are of retirement age or older. I think it would be interesting to know the demographics of the posters on this Forum. Besides your age, I thought it would be interesting to know how many years you wrestled (if any) and what part of the country you live. For myself, I'm 57, wrestled through my Junior year in college, and live outside of San Diego.

On a separate note, I have truly enjoyed the last ten years or so I have been following this Forum. I find it is my go-to happy place, much like comfort food and sweets And the GIF's are great! I would love to one day meet some of you. I would also love to one day be able to head to Pennsylvania and see a PSU dual in person. And if the good Lord allows me to be here still in 2028, I am going to do my best to be in L.A. for the 2028 Olympics.

Allow me to be sentimental for a moment if you wouldn't mind. Quite a few years ago on this Forum (at least I believe it was this forum, although I followed a few at that time) there was a gentleman who was a passionate PSU wrestling fan who was fighting cancer. He unfortunately passed away from it after a long, hard-fought battle, but he fought it bravely, discussing it frequently here. Would someone please tell me his name and screen name? I was so impressed with him and also the care and compassion exhibited for him here. I have thought of him over the years and he was on my heart this morning. Anyway, thank you for everyone who makes this Forum an enjoyable experience. Gaylon
