OT: Dishwasher Repair

I have found very little useful information on the internet, so I come to the all-knowing board.

My dishwasher was not draining. So after taking apart a few things on the bottom of the dishwasher, I found the drain filter screen was clogged with gunk. I cleaned that out and managed to get everything back together. I tested it by running the cancel/drain button and it drained. Yea...success.

But then when I ran the dishwasher, it started making a loud humming sound when the circulation motor kicked on. I would not let it run long for fear of burning out the motor. I figure that when I was cleaning out drain that a piece of glass or some other hard debris fell down into impeller and is now jammed in there.

So now I know the likely problem, it should be easy to fix. The problem is that the plastic piece called the sump in the parts list that I found online has no screws or any obvious thing holding it down. It seems to be in there tight and it does not appear that it twists off. I tried but did not put too much force for fear of breaking something. I found on the parts list online that there might be a screw or screws underneath along with some sort of clip. The drawings do not give detail on how this secures the sump.

All the online videos I have seen have clearly visible screws on the sump. I don't know what I am getting into. I fear the situation that if I remove these screws completely that I will never be able to get them back in without pulling out the dishwasher and putting it on its side. It is a newer model Maytag but I know that most dishwashers are all made by the same company.

Anybody have any experience with a situation like this?

People in your own personal Gulag

Now that the summer weather and long wait for football to start has people more than ornery, let’s really let it out. Give me persons or things you’d throw into your personal gulag in Siberia - to subside on cold gruel and spend the rest of their miserable lives at hard labor in bitter cold or amongst swarms of biting insects and mud as the weather warmed. I’ll start with a few:

- People who call themselves “Influencers”
- The annoying “what’s a Computer?” girl
- Penn State/Big 10/Football related - Mushmouf, Delany, Lou Ann Simon, One-eyed Louie, Witvoet, Lemonnier, Dave Parry, Emmert, Dan Bernstein
- people who ride those dumb new rideshare scooters on sidewalks

Some old Penn State photos from my family

I was going through some items from the estates of my grandparents this weekend, and came across some items I thought fellow Penn State folks might enjoy:

And finally, grandma and grandpa wbcincy at his graduation late 30s. He would go on to Temple medical school, serve as a flight surgeon in the Pacific during WWII, and settle into a practice in Lock Haven:

I also have some more photos of Bloomsburg and Highland Park in Pittsburgh in the 20s and Kittaning in the 40s I may post later for our PA people from those areas that might appreciate them..

Rank your matches in recent history

The 3 timer thread and Flos question about Nickals pin as the most iconic in NCAA history got me thinking about which PSU bouts I have enjoyed the most. Cael era.

Nickal pinning Martin to win the title?
Cenzo over Imar I?
Q pinning Gambrall?
Nickal sticking Brooks in the dual?
Nolf over Imar?
Nolfs destruction of Micah?
Zain torturing Sorensen in the finals?
Zain over Steiber?
Cassar over Moore?
Ruth teching Storley in semis? Smoking Amuch in finals?
Andrew Altons headlock of beauty over I forget who?
DT riding the snot unimpressively out of Mike Evans?
Matt Brown riding the snot out of Mike Evans unimpressively any number of times?
Conaway over Graf?

I was going to say rank your top five, but there have been so many that rank your top 10 if your so inclined. I know I've missed quite a few off the top of my head.

I'm leaning towards Cenzo Imar for my #1, but not sure. I'll think on it and post mine later.

"We Got a Ballgame in Naptown"

My apologies if this was posted already (and my guess is it was) but it just hit me last night what the heck Gus Johnson was talking about......my wife and I were in Annapolis last night having dinner in a nice Irish pub called Galway Bay. I scan the beer menu and see the "house special" is a beer called Naptown Brown Ale..... and then it hits me, AnNAPolis and IndiaNAPolis, unbelievable that it this long for me to figure that out. Anyway I had two Naptown's and started thinking about how nice it would be to return to the Indiana Naptown come December.....

Former Michigan QB hints players don't like Jim Harbaugh

John O’Korn spent three years at Michigan, but the quarterback doesn’t exactly have fond memories of his time with Jim Harbaugh.

In a reply to a (NSFW) question about shifting loyalties of former Michigan players, O’Korn said, “it’s not the program or the school that we don’t like.”

The statement followed a Bleacher Report feature in which Wilton Speight said Harbaugh told him to not eat chicken “because it’s a nervous bird.” Between that anecdote and O’Korn’s tweet, it was a strange day in the land of Harbaugh.

RELATED: Pondering Harbaugh's opinion on chickens

And the next question is obvious: Accurate depiction of the locker room or simply a disgruntled former player?

Comedians

The animal house thread got me thinking . .Didn't want to hijack so I'm starting this .
Will farrel. ...Hilarious . John C. Rilley equally as hilarious if in the right part. Stepbrothers was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while .
Dave Chapelle. Probably the funniest stand up comic since Eddie Murphy. I like a total of three stand ups. . Murphy, Chapelle and Eddie Izzard.
Kris kattan.. That shit he used to do on SNL as kippy strug was gold.
And Danny McBride. Has to be hands down the funniest guy on TV today.
And I don't find chicks funny at all. .Ever.

So I’m in PITTSBURGH. [insert the face here] .

FUTBOL.

I’m at Heinz Field for tonight’s Borussia Dortmund-Benfica match. My wife is from PITTSBURGH. , so we took some time to drive around this afternoon. oakland is still a dump. Did they fire the people who were supposed to clean it up?

The dahntahn area is great. The rivers, bridges, Mt. Washington, Inclines, etc. make Pittsburgh one of the beautiful cities in the U.S. Vastly underrated.

As for Heinz Field, they have a giant pitt 2018 banner hanging on the side near Gate A. The ASS. BEATING. at the hands of Penn State is not far off.

My wife and I will stay for a couple of days to see friends. Maybe we’ll hit Primanti Bros.

FUTBOL. FUSSBALL.

Future PSU - Temple series

Marc Narducci had a short blurb in today's Philadelphia Inquirer (I'd link it, but I couldn't find it on their web site), that PSU and Temple are talking about a future series. Marc writes:

Temple and Penn State are in negotiations for a future home-and-home football series, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The source said the games would be played in 2026 and 2027. The deal has not been finalized but is expected to be completed.

The two schools last played in 2016 when Penn State earned a 34-27 home win over the Owls. That came after Temple opened the 2015 season with a 27-10 victory over the Nittany Lions. It was Temple's first win over TPenn State since 1941.

Temple has four non-league games per season while competing in the American Athletic Conference. Penn State has three in the Big Ten. Both teams have their nonconference games scheduled through the 2020 season.

Fargo is coming

Any of ya'll ever make it out this way for Fargo? Normally I head up for freestyle, but I'm opting for Junior FS Finals and Greco. I know many want the tournament moved... But there's something about the place, man. I absolutely love it.

Should be a good tournament. If anyone other than Illinois with their 50,000 participants wins, I'll be surprised. Who should I be watching for, outside of my guys?
