Can someone explain why the MD vs UMass quarterfinal game is being covered on BTN and the PSU vs Penn quarterfinal wasn't covered?

Don't get me wrong I love the Terps as much as I love PSU. I don't understand why both games weren't covered by BTN? They should have had this same crew broadcast yesterday's game. The drive to SC is only 3 Hrs. Stanwick-Burch and Dixon are Baltimore locals.

FWIW, This game is going to be a blowout. It's 9-1MD halfway into the FIRST half. Our game was much more entertaining.

Don't know for sure, but it could have been a rights issue. Penn was the higher seeded team and the game should have been played in Philly. It's entirely possible that the broadcast rights to the game fell to the "home" team, which would have been Penn even if the game wasn't played in Philly (Penn wore their home whites, we wore our road blues).

I thought is was unusual that there were three games yesterday but only the MD game today. Shouldn't it been 2 and 2 or all 4 on the same day.

Nope. Rights to the NCAA WLAX Championships all belong to ESPN. Either ESPN shows it or syndicates it to the highest bidder No takers here.

Thanks Art, wasn't sure if ESPN held the rights to the entire championship or just the Final Four.

It was surprising to me that the PSU - Penn match was held in PSU. I heard two explanations for this from different sources. One told me that Penn had a facility conflict issue, and that's why the match was held at PSU. The other told me that Penn had not submitted the hosting form required by the NCAA by the deadline, and as such the NCAA could assign the game as they wanted, and were not restricted to assigning it to the higher seeded team.

I'm not sure which story to believe. Despite being the higher seed, Penn did not host R1 or R2 games. Penn plays their games at Franklin Field, and Penn's graduation was on May 16th, so perhaps they could not have WLAX games on 5/13 and 5/15, and still be set up for graduation.

The final score was 18-3, Maryland over UMass. As such, Maryland advances to the NCAA WLAX Final Four for the eight straight year.

For those interested, the time has been set for the PSU - UNC semi. It will take place at 5 pm on Friday (May 27). The match is being played at Talen Energy Stadium, in Chester, PA.

In minor trivia, PSU is only the 3rd unseeded team to reach the NCAA WLAX Semis, and the first that had to win 3 games to get there.
