Why are big game field goals always an adventure for us?

I recently met the USC QB for that game, John Mazur. Nice guy, his Dad is actually from PA and went to PSU. He said Parlavecchio totally rung his bell on one of the plays but I think he stayed in the game but never would have in this era.

At the end of the 1981 season, Penn State was playing the best football in the country.

This was the team that beat Pitt 48-14 at Pitt Stadium (I was there for that one). Even though I had been a PSU fan since I saw my first game in 1975, the teams from 1980 through 1982 are the ones that made PSU football become my favorite sports team, even more than the Pittsburgh pro teams. I just loved how those teams played the game.
