Okay guys, let me poll you. First, backstory... I was on the main Rivals college football soundoff board or whatever it's called, and someone posed a question about national championship teams that had been lucky. I said 1994 Nebraska because the press took pity on Osborne. Two Nebraska fans accused me of trolling and said I got the year wrong. So I refer to that as the 1994 team, even though the trophy or whatever was given to Nebraska in calendar 1995. So what say you? Am I the only one who refers to it thusly?

Nebraska was named the NC for both 1994 and 1995 seasons.

I know, but your reply shows you refer to it the way I do. The 95 Nebraska team was one of those the best I've seen, but this homer thinks they couldn't have traded punches with State in 94.

In football the calendar year the season started and the bulk of the games played is what is used.

The Steelers dynastic Super Bowl teams were '74, '75, 78 and '79 even though they won the SBs in Jan/Feb calendar dates '75, '76, '79 and '80.

PSU's national championships '82 and '86 even though the Fiesta Bowl win over Miami was in Jan. '87.

In hockey and the NBA the year of the finals is used: the '16 and '17 Pens, the '74 and '75 Flyers.

It was the '94 team everyone knows that or should. Those Husker fans must be some of the dumber ones.
