Has Penn State come out with the COVID plan yet? With mandatory masks back at indoor PSU events and locations I can't imagine that 100% capacity stadium won't have new restrictions implemented.

You know the drill. barren and Sandy are evaluating the situation with an abundance of caution. No matter what, remember that they care about us. 🥰

I would be shocked if they did not come out with something. Probably some type of limitation on tailgating (as that cost PSU no money and shows they are doing something). I could also see masking requirements in the stadium (again cost PSU nothing and shows they are doing something). My bigger fear is some type of further temperature check as you enter the stadium such that getting into the stadium becomes more of a nightmare than it already is sometimes.

Currently at the BJC for key pickup and the line extends into the paved lot, at least 200 yards long. Maybe 10% of people in masks, no distancing, looks like a Disney line. Penn state isn’t doing anything about it, so it’s all lip service.

“Fans are required to arrive at the stadium at least 4 hours before kickoff for mandatory COVID-19 testing. Fans who test positive for COVID-19 will be ushered from Beaver Stadium for a mandatory 14-day quarantine at a location to be determined.

Enjoy the game! We Are!”

I’d actually love to hear what Centre County’s caseload, specifically in the State College and University Park zip codes, is like, compared to a week or two ago.

I am vaccinated and was so happy to see Beaver Stadium back to 107k strong, but while I have returned to attending MiLB, high school and college sporting events where there’s at least a degree of distancing from others (or at least the opportunity to easily do so), I am still hesitant about returning to something like Beaver Stadium where people are elbow to elbow and screaming all game.

This search of StateCollege.com should let you get the daily reports. Their stories typically have the numbers broken down by zip code.

I recently had a bit of a scare. I developed severe breathing problems on Aug 30th and thought it was either a reaction to a pain med I was given for shingles or COVID. I’ve had two Pfizer shots since February, but I have health risks and work for the Libraries at Penn State, so I’m mixing and mingling every day. Fortunately it was only pneumonia and I was in Mt.Nittany for four and a half days. The upside is that during their poking and probing, they found a blood clot in my lower leg for which I had none of the usual symptoms. So between the shingles, pneumonia, and the pharmaceutical punch bowl messing with my g.i. and blood sugars it’s been a fun start to the semester. This has been my first week back on campus and I’m still not up to speed, and I wasn’t that fast to begin with. Lung capacity is still way down, can’t even imagine what the folks with full COVID symptoms went through.

I am sure the case load is up as the amount of testing done by PSU is order of magnitude increased from when students arrive back. If it is like the previous history, there will be a 'spike' of Covid in September as it spreads around campus and by October be on the way down back to a steady state. ALso note that Barron said something like 85% plus of students were vaccinated.

Wishing you a full recovery.
