It looks pretty clear Adisa Isaac will miss a lot of time, and maybe the full season. However, I am intrigued to see how the Dline takes shape. I could a see a few people stepping up at DE and DT. This Dline has really good depth. So we know Arnold Ebekite will start as one DE. My guess with Isaac out for however long is that Tarburton will probably start now opposite Ebekitie at the other DE spot. However, yesterday I spoke to someone who has a friend that works in the Lasch, and was told Zuriah Fisher has been looking really good at DE.
I remember coach Scott saying he does not use 1 techs DTs and 3 techs DTs as interchangeable like coach Spence did. So let's predict the DT depth.
1 Tech DT:
1st string: Mustipher
2nd string: Hansard
3rd string: Devon Ellies......I think he is a 1 tech??
4th string: Cole Brevard
3 Tech DT: We are loaded here
1st string: Tangelo........I think Tangelo is more of a 1 tech DT, but if he's starting with Mustipher than he is a 3 tech
2nd string: Hakeem Beamonn
3rd string: Jordan Van Den Berg, Amin Vanover, and Coziah Izzard
My question is with Isaac missing time, will Vanover get more looks at DE? I thought he was practicing both DE and DT, but the scholarship roster has him at DT.
Does Hakeem Beamon get looked at DE now that Isaac is out? Personally I would love to see Beamon play some DE because he has the quicks and has looked pretty good thus far.
From Jordan Van Bergs highlights he looks like he can be as good as any 3 tech DT on the roster. Than you have Coziah Izzard who we have been hearing buzz about for a while now. So if PSU has a strong 3 tech DT depth in Tangelo, Van Den Beg, and Izzard, why not try Beamon and Vanover at DE to get your best players on the field?
Now for DE. After Ebektie and Tarburton as likely starters, we have Zuriah Fisher who supposedly has looked great at DE, Smith Vilbert, Luketa, and Davon Townley. T-Frank has Townley as the #1 player with most upside. I know it will be Townley's first year, but he's not some skinny WDE. He has the size now to play DE if need be his first year.
So what's your guys thoughts? Phil, does Vanover and Beamon get more looks at DE now? Anyone else hear Fisher has looked really good at DE thus far? With Isaac out and all this really good potential depth at DE, who steps up and surprises after the starters Ebeketie and tarburton?
