FB Recruiting 2025 Ohio DB Josh Johnson commits to Penn State

Don’t be Joshing me!
At long last, I have to call you out on your tagline. Orwell was socialist in his political leanings, while being deeply suspicious of any form of government that undermined objective truth, especially in the (newspaper) media, much less determined what did and didn't comport with factual reality. He was appalled by Soviet heavy-handedness toward non-Soviet socialists in Spain. Channeling 1984 as a political "playbook" is simply silly, and it would be almost as silly for me to say that Truth Social is tantamount to the Ministry of Truth. Fortunately, there is no "memory hole" in which tangible truth can disappear. I'd encourage you and others to read his text, Homage to Catalonia. It provides the historical (and his personal) context for his later fictional writings, none of which favor authoritarian governments of any stripe. ANY.

Wow, that tag line hot yanked by mods long ago. That burr has been rubbing under your saddle a loooonnngggg time.

Should I be excited for a 5.5 3 star Mac guy? My instant reaction is “you don’t get to the playoffs with this guy”

From what I understand, the staff wanted him back in June, but he chose Louisville. He's only played football 2 years, but tests well and has a great frame to build on.

He's not going to show up as a freshman and be starter ready, but by year 2 or 3 he could be.

Agree. The staff wants him. Why? IDK but they see something in him b

Disappointing. This is the kinda guy that you have when your team has “no depth” and big “big drop after the 1’s. Considering we already had 10 3 stars - just way too many stretch recruits for a team ranked #3 in the country.

Tyler Warren was one of those 3*s the staff saw something in too. Guess you wouldn't have taken him?

No I don’t want to hit on 3 out of 14 if I look at the 3 stars in Warrens recruiting class. Dawkins, Elsdon and Warren and 11 non contributors. And everyone complains about Elsdon that he should never see the field in the weekly game threads.

So was McSorely…. Turned not bad! Wasn’t Barkley a three when we first offered him? Fields?

Wat about that unknown QB coming in?

Then there was a little known running back from Meadeville area…..

If somebody wants to review his film and tell me why they don't think he's a take, by all means.

I really don't like people simply looking at a kids ranking and being like "this isn't a kid we should take."

Our staff has done a great job of evaluating prospects. If they wanted him in June, and it took until October, that's fine.

Good point. How many hits in that class overall?

Typical hit rate in the classes since?

They have several good DBs committed in that class. The staffs have their own evaluations at camps and other tryouts. In fact, the stars are simply the offers a kid gets. But if the kid doesn’t play the game, he won’t get the exposure/offers. There are tons of services kids families can buy that will get them exposure and offers. I knows guy that doesn’t $20k and got a partial to a Div 2 school and felt it was money well don’t. Don’t forget, a db from u of Toledo was drafted in the first round. The top rated QB in the B1G played for Ohio U the last three years.

Staff had to trust themselves and our DBs have been great the last few years.

I trust the evaluative skills of Coach Terry. If he wanted JJ, then by all means, welcome aboard young man.

Coach and the staff have done a really good job identifying and developing talent in our secondary.

Per Rivals, JPJ was a 3 star, and don't forget Daquan Hardy - he was only a 2 star, and they both worked out pretty well

Your last sentence describes the current administration perfectly irrespective of Orwell’s politics.
