And it stretches across all sports in college. A buddy of mine whose daughter plays field hockey had many scholarship offers but many of them told her that it would be virtually impossible for her to be a scholarship athlete and complete her favored major (nursing).

Has anyone watched the latest installment of Real Sports? One of the segments deals with the various types of abuse that college athletes encounter; Coaches, excessive time, etc. currently the NCAA limit is 20hrs per week on team activities. It’s self reported and yet many many schools routinely exceed the 20hr limit. These kids still have to attend class, do homework , write papers , labs and get good grades. We have created a system that makes it almost impossible to be a ligitimate student. I think that is not fully comprehended by the public at large.

If you have access to HBO I recommend watching. It’s important for college sports enthusiasts to gain insights on what these kids go through to entertain us.

Are these “abusive” coaches and administrators really any different than the meat grinder that is corporate America. I doubt it. You lost me at Real Sports, which always has an left-leaning agenda.

You lost me at “free education”. You know almost nothing about college sports. Most are getting little or nothing.

Thanks for pointing the spelling error. I corrected it.

Ned, I hope all is well with your family. Any updates you care to share?

Also, have you read the new recruiting rules? I am not a fan. As a parent, i would like my kid to have feedback from coaches after spending up to $500 per camp.
