21 Clemson Players Test Positive

Whoa. 23 according to this report

Clemson athletics announced Friday that thus far in the month of June, 28 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 out of 315 completed tests. According to The Athletic's Grace Raynor, 23 of those positive tests stem from football players.

The university said in a statement that it has notified and isolated each of the individuals who have tested positive for at least 10 days.

Those known to have close contact with them have also been asked to quarantine for at least 14 days. The athletic department said most of the total cases have been asymptomatic.

Well, maybe.

But spell this out -- how does catching a virus in June (and certainly one that is asymptomatic) translate to playing in September, October, etc.?

well now you have a third of the team sitting out for half a month, and that’s if nobody gets sick hereafter, which is unlikely. Just because they are asymptomatic now doesn’t mean they don’t get sick in 2 weeks. They could be on day one of the illness.

Okay, you have signaled your virtue.

Where do we go from here? What does this Clemson example tell us about plans for college football in 2020?

It doesn't take a lot of virtue to be saddened at the staggering death totals.

I don't have all the answers but our best chance, as medical experts have told us, is a systematic, slow reopening with massive contact tracing. There's probably time, if done right, to save the season.

No one should care if anyone gets COVID. It’s football over everything else!
Actually you seem to make it COVID over everything. Where’s your concern for the long lasting effects of concussions and injuries that the majority will have over their career?

With that many infected, it is probably best if they just put em all together, spread it to entire team, wait a couple weeks and be ready for practice come August. Probably the Clemson plan for dealing with it.

And how do you know that he doesn't have that concern?

My point is the long term effects of these are likely to be far worse. I’m sure you understood my meaning.
Oh, I agree. Just saying that it seemed you didn't think the poster gives that any consideration.

You've clearly displayed your lack of concern for human life. Duly noted. I guess this makes you a "tough guy"?
I’ve looked at the odds and measured it against the damage to human life a destroyed economy will do. The bad economy affects everyone.
