5 star

What a joke, was a five star all year now is signed with PSU 4 star. He was a high 5 star at one time.

Ford FARRELL DOWNGRADES  AT LEAST THREE

Others were upgrade however.

Farrell does this every year..... he is the one that asks recruits 'Why would you possibly want to go to PSU rather than ______ ? (fill in the blank). Mike Farrell - True Professiona or Pet Detective?

I like the way Freidman bucks this hack. But none of these guys see P5 quality players in a real game go head to head. Many if not most players find it difficult to put it in high gear playing one on one bs drills .... and in what game will there be a one one on one situation for linemen? This ain't singles tennis. Just watch the videos at the right of these posts..... some dude lines up four steps away in a one on one and torpedoes his single blocker. Watch the seven on sevens and you will see most guys running plays they don't know with players they don't know (especially OL) at 2/3 speed and one rouge defensive guy reading naturally slow developing plays and blowing them up. It's hard to evalute anything under these circumstances becuase the settings are so artifical. How many here played the game and had super stars in practice be duds in games and duds in practice step it up three levels because it 'was time'?

There's not a program in the country that wouldn't take Ford in a minute. Who cares what a turd like Farrell thinks?

Let's be clear here: if Farrell were actually any good at what he does, he wouldn't have a job evaluating high school football players for people like us. In fact, if he were any good at anything, he'd be doing it.

Honestly, who really cares?
Perception affects results. When you read media stories on recruiting results, the same teams are on top, preseason polls put the same teams on top and it carries thru the season etc. Whats the difference between two 9-3 teams>>perception and the good old eye test.

Why people get their tit in a wringer over this nonsense intrigues me. I’m certain that the coaching doesn’t check the * ratings before offering a player. Nor are players allowed to carry their * ratings in practice to determine if they play in games. While it is a fairly accurate barometer of future success it’s certainly not foolproof. It’s most glaring shortcomings are portrayed herein. That is certain evaluators lack of objectivity, bias, and the subjective nature of the evaluation as seen via too uninformed eyes.

how many stars did Tom Brady have?

Or McSorley, Poz, Lee, LJ JR, etc. I do think recruiting has become so scrutinized that there are fewer 5* misses than there used to be. But, I think it's a mixed bag after that. What is the expectation of a 4* vs. a 3*? IMO, you have nearly as good a chance of a 3* playing at a 5* level as you have of a 4* doing the same (or playing worse). Goes without saying it’s best to have the most five stars.

I don’t think his ego was even that high. That kid is special. Need more kids with that mentality these days.
I think there was a significant problem of leadership with the squad in 2018. PSU lost a lot of important leaders after 2017 who were like battle - hardened troops. They had been through the sanctions, or at least their aftermath. Just getting to the postseason was a huge deal when they started out.
I do not believe that raw talent is going to improve the leadership situation. Maybe pitching your program as the place for an NFL audition gets you some of the higher rated talent, but if you recruit a roster mostly made up of student athletes who look at the university experience this way you are not going to have the roster stability and upperclass leadership needed to win championships.

I think that Barkley was such a significant leader (well, he and Allen) that the younger guys beneath them never grew into the roles that would prepare them to take over. And we definitely suffered for it this year.

Barkley was a rare, rare, kid. It is impossible to overstate what a great job his parents did in raising him.

Marcus Allen too. He was huge in the locker room.
