7 Things We Learned From the NWCA All-Star Classic

Good analysis showing, with video, where Sasso bailed from the same position in which Gomez had put Yianni on his back. Nicely done.

It's good but the jump cuts keep creeping me out like I'm watching an old grind house horror movie from the 70s 😆 🤣 😂

Ok 1 thing: Greg IS NOT the "clear #2". Greg is the CLEAR #1. Schultz hasn't wrestled ANYONE and Greg has. Greg will wrestle BOTH Mason AND Big Cass 2 MORE TIMES most likely while Schultz continues to duck everybody.
I doubt Greg (Daniel) sees both of those guys twice. If he beats them in the duals they'll be on the same side in Big Tens.

He did also say 225 lbs for weight class for Cass and Greg. But I thought the analysis was pretty good. I’m not going to fault him for putting Greg behind Schultz. Schultz was 2nd last year and his only loss on the season was 6-2 in the final to Steveson. He beat Wood twice and Parris. Their only meeting was a 14-8 Schultz win the previous tournament. I think Kerk will end up the winner between the two, but it’s not ridiculous to put Kerk behind him.

Not yet. It will be though in March if Greg is unbeaten.

Schultz is the highest returner and does have a W over Parris. Unfortunately we can’t just apply “duh” analysis and he’s going to stay 1 this season barring someone upsetting him (not likely)

So, Wrestlestat should have Kerk at #1?

Both Arizona State and Michigan have Cliff Keen on their schedules. Schultz vs Parris there?

Arizona State also has Midlands on their schedule. Looks like they’re seeking tough competition.

Which is still greater than the zero times Schultz sees any of the 3 before tulsa
Schultz is really good but it's bs that he ducks everybody. If he pulls that again this year at CK/Midlands he should be dropped in the rankings.

Not when 2 wrestles 3 Fri night

Early picks

DGK
Schultz
MP
Cass
If Greg is 1 in your eyes, but 2nd seeded at nationals, he doesn’t have a problem with the 3. You have problems with the 3 when you aren’t the 1. Who cares about ncaa seeds in November.

Greg has 2 seasons of Cael's coaching under his belt, he is 2 seasons removed from a serious medical condition, he has added 15 lbs of new muscle without losing any of his quickness.

Shultz has a cush schedule, and will probably avoid any real competition (once again) until the semis at nationals, and unfortunately that means he likely gets the #1 seed.

What does it matter to Greg's march towards his first championship? Not one iota.

I say Greg runs the table this year, through the duals, through big 10s, and thru nationals.

It's it fair Kerk will meet both Cass and Parris 2-3 times between now and then while Shultz sees only one challenge before the finals? Nope. Unfortunate and undeserving of the #1 seed for sure, but in end it won't matter.

Who all as he ducked? You wrote everybody, and that is BS. His coach made him sit against PSU, who else did he duck? You wrote it, defend it!

I really want Kirk to win the title but man Schultz is a tough one to handle just so big!!Kirk gonna have to rely on leg sweeps!

Parris last year too.

Regardless of 1 or 2 being a wash, and if Greg does run the table he would be the clear favorite but if this happens it would be a travesty.

I think it's a non-issue. If Kerk is clearly superior to the 3 seed, then if he is 1 or 2 isn't that big a deal.
Once we went to a big tourney and I had a kid who was kinda transcendentally good but was somehow seeded 8th. I told him that and he just smiled; then decked the 1, 4, and 2 seeds in the first period. Later became a spot starter for PSU.

Fine for now. But seedings will take into account SOS. And if both are undefeated, Kerk will have the edge.

You are right. That seeding doesn’t matter to the person who should be a 1. 2 or 3. But it does unfairly punish the backside and the frontside for those in the middle seedings.

Well he ducked Kerk last year and has never faced Cassiopi or Parris anytime before nationals. He also ducked Parris after Kerk last year but was somehow healthy enough to wrestle against Pitt.

Clearly, you took Film 180, The Art of Cinema..

All I remember is "jump cut","iris in", "iris out" and "fade". That and we watched a film shot in Russia in the 1920's or so. Twelve hours compressed in an hour. Featured a life birth. Looked like the kid shot out.

I remember he showed us "Un Chien Andalou" by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel and then the very next week he screened "Debbie Does Dallas" 🤣
