At NLWC, who is all there to train at 97KG? I know 86kg is loaded with Brooks, Nickal and Taylor, but who is exclusively training at 97kg?
Two Olympic Gold Medalists, one as coach, one as athlete. And Riley Lefever, I think too. Bo dabbled there, but decided on 86 (smart, I think). At NLWC, who is all there to train at 97KG? I know 86kg is loaded with Brooks, Nickal and Taylor, but who is exclusively training at 97kg?

I think it was Varner as a training partner--and Cael & Casey as coach that attracted him.Gotcha. Wanted to understand who Kyle is getting a look at daily.

My defensive skills must be pretty elite also, because Snyder has never taken me down. And if I have anything to say about it - he never will.Yea Varner is interesting because he is probably the closest upperweight that has elite defense like J'den.
Very few American upperweights have really elite defensive skills like the Russians.
Rumor has it that Cael is still the king of the mountain. (ie he can still beat everyone in the room, both NLWC and Penn State)I think it was Varner as a training partner--and Cael & Casey as coach that attracted him.
Cassar being a smaller Hwt in weight not strength was there to train with when not injured also.Rumor has it that Cael is still the king of the mountain. (ie he can still beat everyone in the room, both NLWC and Penn State)
I believe it for the play wrestling they favor. But I have a hard time seeing his endurance anywhere near say DT or Snyder’s level at this point in time. No knocks on the guy—he just has different priorities right now.Rumor has it that Cael is still the king of the mountain. (ie he can still beat everyone in the room, both NLWC and Penn State)

I would think cael could still win a go here and there but if snyder cant beat cael, hes got problems coming up.Rumor has it that Cael is still the king of the mountain. (ie he can still beat everyone in the room, both NLWC and Penn State)
Snyder has said that Cael is still really good and pushes him. I think you hit on the difference, Cael is not training to be world class so his endurance is not there. Probably what that means is Cael is still really good for the first period. But when you have a tag team of Cael Sanderson and Jake Varner to train with, you don't need much else.I believe it for the play wrestling they favor. This is probably correct. Cael doesn't have the gas tank to have a 6 minute go with Snyder, but a minute or two while Jake takes a minute or two works.Snyder has said that Cael is still really good and pushes him. I posted elsewhere, but does anyone know why Nick isn't competing this weekend? He qualified for trials at US Nats last year. Hope he is healthy....
