This is a very reasonable strategy. Who wants to be associated with bitter partisanship? Who wants to be associated with continued poverty and record breaking government handouts? Who wants to be associated with "if you like your plan, you can keep it." Who wants to be associated with record increases in inequality?
Secondly, it will be hilarious to see how each paints themselves as more left.
