A mesage sent.....

I would agree but most analysts tend to suggest that individual games are not the biggest factor for such recruits’ decisions.

If Locksley had a group of candidates as guests on his sideline - what do those analysts think those recruits felt about the “Blackowt” atmosphere getting flipped / crowd scurrying for the gates before halftime?

What about that UMD student section that ended up getting swapped-out for White?

Individual games have a tremendous impact when the recruits are on site

Recruits that pick Maryland aren't concerned about these kind of games. It's about staying close to home and early playing time. If anything it reinforces they can play early.

Nick Cross was impressive last night. He'll be at Maryland for 3 years then playing on Sundays.

I think the message CJF sent is a broader one.

He's done rebuilding the program, it is rebuilt. No longer do we have talent only at some positions, or only with the 1s, we now have it at every position and the 2s and 3s can play at this level too.

The message is that opponents can't expect to snatch away a victory in the 4th quarter any longer, because we are still going to be there.

He was very good and I would have loved to see him on our side.

Starting with Iowa we'll see if that's true but we're, at the very least, heading in that direction.

Like I said, I tend to agree. I’m just regurgitating what a lot of the recruiting gurus are saying.

I think that is a great point. Also, and I didn’t want to start a new thread about this, but I have noticed a shift in PSU’s recruiting philosophy this cycle. We aren’t waiting for kids or accepting just being a place holder anymore. It is going to cost us some kids but we aren’t waiting around for guys like Parks and Adams who want to jerk us around while they take other visits. We are letting kids know, “thanks but no thanks” now. It represents, in my opinion, a shift toward behaving like we are elite because we have recruited at an elite level and have speed and talent all over the place. The staff also seems to be really confident in its’ ability to evaluate talent independent of other staffs. If this class ends up being elite than I think it is indisputable that our staff is one of the best in the country evaluating talent.

And I'm not saying we never lose a game, but that it won't be because of a lack of either depth or talent when we do. It's been awhile since we've been truly at full strength.
