A quick selfish observation as I sit by my campfire

It's 10pm and I am posting this from my campfire in the woods behind by house... Kids are playing badminton with their cousins under the lights in my backyard while my wife and he sister enjoy a bottle of Merlot on the patio... Belly is packed with littleneck clams and burgers, can of cold Genesee in my cupholder, Air is cool and clean as it sweeps of the lake. Bought 9 chairback tix and a reserved RV pass for the 9/26 SDSU game for mine and another family of close friends to enjoy... Thinking about what a great day it has been and how today is an aggregate of many good decisions I have made over the past 49yrs and how lucky I am to have stability, a family that is happy and healthy, and two sons that make me proud. Life is fantastic. I hope each of you are lucky enough to have peace. That is all.

Sounds like quite the "staycation"....one for which you don't even need to worry about the torque on the lug nuts :))

What happened to your insider ticket source IllinoisLion? He isn't going to be happy that you went elsewhere to procure 9 seatbacks :))

All kidding aside, sounds like a great evening in upstate NY except for that swill in the green and silver can.

Damn fine post. After attending a south Philly birthday party today, I'm now sitting in my screened in porch listening to the cicadas and drinking a fine Cali cab and watching highlights of the Pirates win over the Dodgers and Jerome Bettis' HOF induction. I find myself anxious to get my son's cross country schedule so that I can figure out when I can get up to Happy Valley this fall.

August is wonderful that way.

IllinoisLion and his sweet ND row12 aisle seats got STEPped on - I'm no longer speaking to him ;)

Can't believe you recalled that and my issue with insufficiently-torqued lug nuts on my rig ... Also thankful my RV has been issue-free this season outside of some brake-fade of historic proportions descending the Blue Ridge Mtns in June

I'm finally settling down this evening after an eventful day celebrating my daughter's 13th birthday. Not a creature stirring in the house.... except for the giggling girly-fest in the basement where Sofia and her friends are having a sleepover. I'll just sit here and do some light reading, sip a nice whiskey, occasionally patrol the hallways and make sure the party stays downstairs.
Life is good. Cheers, guys. :)

From 1981 - 2005 had ONE game where I had to swallow tickets.....from then on it became a chore and I wasn't getting back as often, so I gave them up in 2008 or so. Used to be bragging left and right to all the UMICH & ND fans surrounding me in Chicagoland that I was a Penn State Football Season Ticket Holder. I was seriously Penn State Proud. Had three different locations over the years, all great aisle seats, all with great no name seat mates that even if you saw only twice a year it was like you were there every week.

I keep waiting for MMII to invite me back for a game but I think he thinks I'll show up in my maize and blue striped officiating outfit and embarrass everyone.

I can relate to your line about seat mates. STEP destroyed that for many, including myself. STEP. Have I ever explained how I feel about STEP?

Rock on. A good life is made up of a lot of hard work, a lot of luck, and people who love you and want to see you succeed. Well articulated, very much appreciated.

Fantastic. I hope the trailer court is ok with the campfire though.

Life is good, bro. Good choices, living right, a moral compass, deciding the right battles to fight, a great partner; these are the keys IMHO.

Like RO, sitting on my back porch, 74 degrees, waves pounding with no wind, just made plans to go to Vietnam with my brother (who is a Khe Sahn vet), wife and daughter comfortably sleeping..".just smiling.

Carry on!
