A contestant on Jeopardy showed one finger (not the F finger) after he won his first game. He showed 2 fingers after he won the second game and 3 fingers after he won the 3rd game. Past contestants and others with nothing to do decided to make this into some sort of hate symbol. Part of NYTs summary was:

Later the Anti Defamation League found nothing subliminal or related to ideology -- the winning contestant was simply using 3 fingers to symbolize 3 wins.
The main issue here is: Why would any sentient human being be on the lookout for some underhanded signal if it wasn't related to some particular nasty action or wasn't prominently displayed for some political or important purpose? You have to be real losers with nothing going on in your life to worry about such trivia and then transpose it into a message of hate.
Similar to the huge uproar caused when people thought a Covington teenager was sneering at a pompous, loud old man who had invaded the student's space.
The Left is not trying to stop hate; it is trying to create hate so that its losers can pretend that they do something worthwhile during the course of their meaningless and empty lives.
