Hey guys, hope you are all well. First a full disclosure before my post then I'll go back to living my life. A couple months ago I changed my party registration from Democrat to independent. I did vote for Jared Polis (D) for governor. Everyone else was a Republican. My state representative and senator, US house representative, county supervisor maybe more were all Democrats but considered vulnerable. Speculation was Republicans would have a big night. Every one of them lost. All of them. Democrats swept the Governor, US Senate, Secretary of State, Attorney General, you name it.

So what happened? A lot of things but one thing the Republican party will need to do is come up with some kind of stance on abortion that the general public can live with. I know what a lot of conservatives think. We are fighting for the right to life. This is a moral issue of life or death. This is the hill we choose to die on. The only problem with that stance is sometimes you die!

There were a lot of republican candidates out there that looked pretty good. Unfortunately most of them took the stance of no abortion or few if any exceptions. They ran as if they were running for office in the rural Texas, not the Denver metro area and they all paid the price.

I don't know where the Republican party goes from here. They have a big problem with women voters and they will pay for it year after year, election after election. The problem is they are so committed and so tied to the pro-life movement they can't move away from it so I don't know what they will do.
