Something on the order of 160 people have voted in the poll and over 81% of them say that traffic is somewhat or a lot less since the change. A couple of things.....

First it is still early and second we are in kind of a dead period here after the spring game, so it is incomplete.

Third, this is our impression of traffic. I have no details about the actual traffic and how it compares, so what we measured was perception, not necessarily reality.

Having said that, perception can become reality, and to some extent, at least in marketing, perception IS reality. I guess it would be too much to ask rivals if they could give us comparison data from last year.:)

What most concerns me is I notice some people, whose posts I have enjoyed, are gone, or post less.

Yep, sadly, as much as I thought all youse old guys were curmudgeonly... We will miss your demographic from this board going forward... Worried what that might mean for the future of this board and if, at some point, we don't go and seek a new website to congregate.

Yes. Hell, I miss some guys I didn't like much. I think there is still a lot of value here if we can just learn to adjust.

Ha! I'm still here lurking. I don't post much, never have, but also I haven't had time to set up these new fangled things like the avatar and embedded pics.
I'm sure there are lots of others who lurk and only post occasionally, but you really should consider posting more often. Anyone who uses the words "new fangled" is one whose opinion I would likely value.

That is why it was funny to hear people expressing disbelief that someone could vote in such and such a way. Nobody is/was claiming certainty with the respect to their vote - I hope - when revealing what their impression is about the current rate of board traffic.

I think we'd all like to see the data comparison.

Boom! I hit the "like" button and quoted the part I like! Did it work?
Well, yes, but maybe not as you expected. The like went under my post which is what it appears you wanted and I appreciate. The part you quoted from my post (that you liked) is in your post and you replied, so I would say it all worked out. Congrats! I will add, and I suspect you know, if you have any problem with any of this new stuff, just ask. Someone will usually respond quickly to help you out. I'm not very computer literate and I tell people if I can learn some of this stuff, anyone can. Oh, and I just gave you a "liked this post" so you're right in the game now.

I think it will be less. Even the names of our members are hard to read. Is it worth the eye strain? Can some of it be darkened or enlarged?

I don't like the new look. Rarely post or visit anymore. The new look is a PIA to read
It is tedious. I'm trying to make the best of it, but it's more work now and I can see the drop off in posts by people I have followed for the past few years. I doubt it's going to change, so I just ask everyone to give it a decent chance before moving on.

It has been mostly people that don't even start threads/topics who have been bashing those of us showing concern.

And their insulting posts in response have been of the 140 character or less variety.

One negative is that one has to scroll down a lot before getting past the Sticky threads. One positive is that you don't have to scroll as far now when Felli posts. :)

It's not Google analytics but it's some data:
Scout:
graph

247:
graph

Rivals:
graph

I find it interesting the other sites have a drop as expected post-signing day but flattened out but Rivals has continued to drop. It would be nice to have 2 years of data to see if that is typical or if this year is an outlier.

I feel like BWI in particular has an excessive amount of pinned threads, that aside, it would be nice to be able to collapse the pinned threads.

EDIT: Realized I could link the images in the post.

Thanks for the links to the analytics.

I am with you gambit. I am not a prolific poster, but I started on the plotit listserve before migrating to the first McAndrew web site using Mosaic 1.1 and have followed it wherever it has moved since. No matter where it was located, it was my homepage when I opened my browser for the better part of 20 years. I have watched people come and go, many of them people that I was sure to read every one of their posts. I have seen posters leave because of death. This board has been a huge part of my life and as I sit here pondering my own mortality, I have a great sadness at the thought of it dying off too.

I demand a recount! Hanging digital chads and all that! :)

That was very well said Ski, especially the last sentence which is terrific.

This has been mentioned as something that should be in an upgrade coming in next month, along with more emoticons and some other stuff...
