If someone succeeds Kane before her term expires or Gansler finishes, the successor can simply ask Gansler for whatever work he has accomplished up to that point, bury it, thank him for his efforts, and pay him as per the contract requirements. End game. For sure that is what will be attempted. The SC ethics commission tried to do just that with Eakin.

The only way they didn't succeed was because Kane was still there dangling the rest of the porn emails. Then the stacking of the deck was attempted with the "friend of Eakin" appointment. Again the only reason that was looked at was because Kane was still in office, still dangling the porn emails. Once she's gone it will be back to status "corrupt" quo and no one in the general public will know what is really going on.
