In November multiple family trip to Universal Studios, then just my wife and I are extending a few nites and have a return flight out of Ft Myers airport, so looking for any lodging suggestions, right on or very close to beach. Have never been further south than Siesta Key on the gulf coast. Siesta Key was based on a rec form this board and we really enjoyed it. Not necessarily not locked into Ft Myers Beach, but something down that way.
Food and refreshment recs would be most appreciated as well.
Thanks all!

Yeah, def need more info, b/c Ft Myers Beach is completely different than Naples, Marco or Sanibel.

I would look south of Ft Myers beach if your budget allows The Ritz on the beach and the Naples Beach and golf club are really nice . Old Naples at night is so elegant and cool . Restaurants, shopping, and people watching there is a blast IMO, the locales further south beyond Naples have great beaches but less nightlife variety.

We need more information such as; Budget, things you want/like to do, distance in driving hours from airport you would consider, and any other information you feel would be important to know.

With that said, spend some time reading about Sanibel Island and Captiva Island.
Thanks for taking the time. Budget is non-issue, that being said, we like casual. Another poster, which I appreciate, suggested the Ritz, would not be our style. We are looking for a few days of beach time and would prefer to be able to walk to eat and drink from where we stay. Lets say within an hour of ft myers airport.
My boss owns a property on Sanibel, he was the one that suggested ft myers for the beach..... will check out both of those isles.
Thanks again

A little further away, but I'd go to the Hilton or JW Marriott in Marco Island.
I wouldn't stay in Fort Myers Beach, but to each their own.

Based on your description, Sanibel is perfect. Only drawback is that they don't scrape the beaches in an attempt to return them to a more natural condition so a by-product is the water can be a bit murky. But, the shells are amazing and you can spend an entire day shifting through the piles and finding the most curious shapes. Crystal clear water is just north on Captiva (just a few miles) which you should plan at least one of the afternoons. Several low key resorts right on the beach on Sanibel that have restaurants and bars on the property. Most of these will have a kitchen which I like to store drinks, snacks, etc.

Last time I was there I met people from all over the world looking for specific shells that they needed for their personnel collections. Crazy!

South Seas Island resort in Captiva might be worth checking out. Try eating at The Bubble Room. Take home a slice of Orange cake for dessert.

If you go to Ft Myers beach stop by Heavenly Biscuit for a breakfast sandwich. Awesome!

There are some nice AirBnBs on ft myers beach. May want to look there or vrbo. We had a nice home with a heated pool and near beach access.

I second the Heavenly Biscuit. Awesome breakfast place.

I've visited Cape Coral the past few years and we spent time at Ft Meyers Beach each time. This place has a nice beach bar with food as well. Not sure of the rooms but we always stop for a bite and some signature mixed drinks.
