Our daughter has an upcoming visa appt. at VFS Global, 1025 Vermont Ave NW. Any recommendations for an overnight stay within walking distance would be appreciated. The Hotel Washington looks like a possibility. TIA.
Hyatt on NJ Ave might be a nicer hotel. I met my wife at the hotel bar there. Our daughter has an upcoming visa appt. at VFS Global, 1025 Vermont Ave NW. Any recommendations for an overnight stay within walking distance would be appreciated. The Hotel Washington looks like a possibility. TIA.
The Darcy on Rhode Island Ave is a very nice property. It was last a Hilton property but was sold and the investment firm that bought it poured over $65M into it.Our daughter has an upcoming visa appt. at VFS Global, 1025 Vermont Ave NW. My wife, through various and extensive business connections, could have easily hooked you and family up with nice corner rooms on a high floor overlooking Pennsylvania Ave at the JW Marriott complete with a corporate discount, but I’m not even going to bother asking her to do you such a favor. Our daughter has an upcoming visa appt. at VFS Global, 1025 Vermont Ave NW. Not worried about price.Price range?
Why walking distance?
Ok Step, here's a map showing all the hotels in DC with the map centered and zoomed in on VFS Global. Change the date in the google window and the pricing for the night(s) you want will show up. Marriott Residence Inn is right next door, which should give a kitchen, dining area, and multiple bedrooms if you'd like. Just hover over each box with a price to reveal which hotel. Click on that hotel to get more information in the box.Jeebs, Mn is asking for some advice for his family stay in Washington....
50% of the posts are comical or political. Is there no common ground decency any longer?
Thank you. I used google maps too. That's where I came up with the Hotel Washington. Looked pretty nice. Sometimes someone with experience can help avoid a mistake. That's why I put it out in a thread.Ok Step, here's a map showing all the hotels in DC with the map centered and zoomed in on VFS Global. Got it.Not worried about price.
Just preferred.
Thank you so much. This is most helpful. Not sure what you consider 'walking distance', but lots of nice hotels in that area (which is also very close to my office). I don't think you could go wrong with any of the suggestions here (including the Hotel Washington). My personal 'likes' in the area are:
Sofitel - French design; lots of attention to detail in the little things. Great location. https://www.sofitel-washington-dc.com/
Washington Plaza Hotel - More 'boutique' than others on your list - feels like 'old school' Washington DC (pool is in the front). https://www.washingtonplazahotel.com/
Mayflower Hotel - Historic DC property; 'Washington's Second Best Address' - very nice, elegant. - https://www.themayflowerhotel.com/
Hay-Adams - Expensive, but outstanding location, cool bar ('Off The Record') - https://www.hayadams.com/
Any of the 'luxury' hotels closer to Georgetown are good (Westin, Fairmont, especially the Park Hyatt). If you want something a little more 'neighborhoody' (but not quite as close) maybe go with The Tabard Inn (also has one of my favorite bars in the city): https://www.tabardinn.com/.
I'd also recommend the Trump Hotel if only because it too has a great restaurant, bar, and is in the historic 'Old Post Office' building. I haven't been yet but for a night - I'd give it a shot. https://www.trumphotels.com/washington-dc
Not sure what rate your getting but seems like most of the nicer hotels have pretty good rates. The government rate for DC for this time of year is $188/night, a lot of hotels will honor that even if not government if you ask.
Let me know if you're looking for other things to do (or places to eat, etc.)! Lovely time of year and DC is a really great city.
