I’ve just transferred some stuff from VHS to DVD. ImI’m sure you’re glad to hear I’ve jumped from the Bush Sr to Administration to the Bush Jr Administration. But the question is, now that I have it on DVD, what do I move it onto next? Should I copy the DVD to a thumb drive? Or what?

Cloud storage
We had a bunch of home movies shot on an 1990s era camcorder that we lost along the line. About 15 cassettes had been sitting in our basement for 20+ years unable to be viewed.

Our son was able to digitize them onto the cloud with the use of a piece of equipment that cost a few hundred dollars.

Well worth it- the videos are like electronic baby books of our kids. Amazing!

If you’re going to digitize why not make your own, or maybe make your own plus use the cloud? And can you just put the DVD into a computer and copy and paste to the hard drive and voila, you’re done?

Pop the DVD in the computer and check to see the format. If it's something like H.264, H.265, MP4, etc, just copy the files wherever you want and you're done. Odds are this is the case.

Once they're on the computer it's easy to stream to your TVs, load them onto a private YouTube channel, etc
