Good to hear, considering all reports that leaked out of filming were the opposite.

Reports are that Glover killed it, which is absolutely no surprise.

Yeah, Glover wasn’t a concern. Ehrenreich’s performance, however, was what would make or break the movie. You can’t have the main character be a dud, regardless of how good the supporting cast is. So hopefully he really is that good, because if so I think Han, Chewie, and Lando will be back for more (mis)adventures. I really think at this rate that the Star Wars spin off movies are proving to be better than the continuation of the Skywalker story.

I find it interesting that Solo is being reviewed so well considering all the bad pub it was getting (Ron Howard swooping in to rescue it, etc). I’ve read that Ehrenreich isn’t Han Solo at first, but warms into the role by the end of the movie.

If they’re turning it into a trilogy (as I’ve read is their plans), my hunch is by the 3rd movie we’ll have seen all early interactions with Jabba and Boba Fett, and probably have the closing scene be him walking into the bar at Moss Eisley followed by Greedo.

Han walking into the bar/cantina at Moss Eisley with Gredo would awesome, like how the ending of Rouge One segued into A New Hope with the ship carrying the plans being boarded. That was done seamlessly.

They are making way too many of these movies. Star Wars was awesome because there were only three movies in existence for like 20 years. Then they made another three, and nearly destroyed it. Now they make one every year. Eventually people will just stop going to watch

Au contraire. James Bond has been going strong for some time. Star Trek is another long lived franchise - both TV and film. Batman...Superman...Godzilla anyone? And all he does is smash stuff and breath atomic breath. So all I have to say to that is:

The problem isn't that they're making too many movies (they weren't great because they were rare, they were great because they were cool!) - they're just making too many similar SW movies. They have an entire galaxy to play with and they continue to focus on characters from the original trilogy. Move on already. I probably enjoyed Rogue One more than any of the other SW films since Disney bought Lucasfilm. And getting away from the core characters is what made Star Wars: Clone Wars on Cartoon Network so amazing - they touched on things like the history of the Sith, and introduced new characters and worlds to explore. I hope Solo goes more in that direction noting Han was never a favorite of mine.

The writers are hacks. The Force Awakens was practically identical to the first Star Wars movie from 1977

The Last Jedi had lots of bits borrowed from the original trilogy too. Am tired of that. However, Rouge One was great and I do think there are a lot of stories left to be told. But, yeah, the writers either need to take the Skywalker saga in a new direction or end it altogether.
