Allen Robinson to Steelers???

What good would Allen Robinson be to the Steelers? He is a fine receiver but the Steelers have stiffs who can't throw the ball at QB.

just saw this.....unless the Steelers give up a bunch of draft picks....I am in favor. This is a new regime in charge of the Steelers.......they have added OL, DL, Lbs and now going after a WR......... opens up the draft. Now they will absolutely have to get a CB and OT first and second in some order in the draft.

Stafford didn't look his way in LA. Not sure how much ARob has left in the tank, but he's still good enough to be a 2/3 WR most anywhere.

Hope ARob has lots of gas left in the tank at 29 years old. He sure can get open and catch a football, unlike some of the other recent Steelers WR's......

Hope they then bring Boykin back as a KR and 4th WR, as well as getting a late round WR. And use that 2nd they got for Claypool to strengthen another position.

Pickett always gets great reviews for having been a rookie last year. I think the Steelers are very happy with him.

My concern with Pickett as the Steeler's starting QB has more to do with his durability. The 2 concussions that he received in his rookie season may not have even resulted in sacks, let alone concussions with a young Big Ben at the helm.

Aside from injuries, his rookie year met/exceeded my expectations for him.

I believe that the league has acknowledged his legitimacy as the starting QB of the Steelers. And Defensive Coordinators, particularly within the division, will be looking at ways to confuse as well as identify and exploit weaknesses in his game.

Surrounding him with better protection and more weapons will hopefully help mitigate those attempts

Swapping 7th round picks and paying $5 million for a year of Robinson's services is well worth the risk and becomes a steal if he remains healthy. If Robinson is healthy, he could become the Steelers' most reliable receiver.

Haven't kept up with Robinson year by year -- what is his injury history?

He was an outstanding athlete in college -- excellent run after the catch, great vertical, good body control and agility

He was injured in the opener in 2017 then missed probably 12 games the past 2 years but generally healthy. He's played with some awful QBs.

Like yourself, I've not kept up with his career over the last several years.

He apparently has some good chemistry with Steelers backup QB Mitch Trubisky. AB had 98 receptions in 2019 and 102 in 2020 in his final 2 seasons with the Bears.

Can he return to anywhere near that level of production? The player that we remember would certainly be a valued asset.

I think one of those was an NFL reaction to Tua. After the Tua incident the NFL basically put everyone into concussion protocol.

My bigger concern with Pickett is him starting to find the guys that are open down the field instead of coming off that read too early.

There is truth in what you stated re: Tua.

But I remember seeing KP stand up and appear disoriented after the hit in the Baltimore game(?). Which led me to believe that there was at least some credibility to his placement in concussion protocol.

Your concern regarding his coming off of his reads down field are valid. However, I would counter that he was a rookie. His offensive line, while almost miraculously remaining intact for the entire season, was far from a dominant force in pass protection.

He was also able to put together a couple game winning drives which I was surprised and impressed with. He certainly has room to improve. But I am more encouraged now than I was when we made the draft selection.
