Due to the Santa Ana winds here in the San Diego region, the electric company has shut off our power for what is expected to be the next three days. Thank the Lord I have two small generators. So, to all of you great wrestling fans on this Board, I refuse to curse your light due to my darkness 😎. P.S. I am loving these NLWC Rokfin events. Not to jump the gun, but it would not surprise me in the least to see Starocci end up with his Penn State career right up there with the all-time Penn State greats. He is a special talent. Signed, Grateful in Southern California

It's California -- gas-powered generators banned, must be electric-powered.
Actually, a wind powered generator. Take advantage of those Santa Anna’s. Kidding aside, don’t they also turn off your reverse meter if you use wind or solar during these shutdowns? Can’t have a live line to the pole during down time. Thought there were issues with battery banks on houses not being usable in shut downs, which defeats much of advantages

But do you have gas for the generator?
I do! The few gas stations that have power were quite busy, though. Also, San Diego Gas and Electric gave me a free battery-powered generator this year since I am on a CPAP machine. It even came with a 100 watt solar panel, which is awesome. I can run one generator inside and one in the garage. The battery-powered one will run a refrigerator for 50 hours, and I can recharge it via the gas-powered generator, so life is good. I even have an extension cord running to my Christmas tree so I can stay in a festive mood 😀.

I am not sure. My neighbor just had a large battery-powered system installed at their house, which is manufactured by Tesla. They had to pay very little for it because of all the government grant money available for that program (our tax dollars at work).

Good luck with everything and happy holidays. You probably already know this but if you have natural gas running into your house or a propane tank, it’s very easy and inexpensive to convert your gasoline powered portable generator to run on both. This way you never have to worry about gas stations running out of fuel (happened here on the east coast after hurricane Sandy).

I have four vehicles and before big storms I make sure each one has a full gas tank. Thankfully I've never had to syphon the gas out to feed my generator as the longest blackout here was about 7 hours so the 5 gallon lawn mower can was enough.

I always fill vehicle tanks well before any potential event along with at least four 5-gallon fuel cans and four propane tanks. Two deep cycle batteries fully charged. Went for almost 6 days without electric after Hurricane Matthew which blasted this area pretty good. Generator kept the fridge, freezer, TV, coffee pot on. Microwave was OK if I unplugged the fridge. Used the deep cycle batteries to hook up old car headlights in the house. I added a 1500 watt inverter to the mix this year. I have city water and a well that I can run on the generator. I now have natural gas in the neighborhood but haven't established service yet.
