Do you need to use Alexa? I just want to watch TV. No cords. I cut the cord today. No tv, and I am working class, so can't afford the fire stick unless it's ordered, so I ordered it today from Amazon. Only one I could find was with Alexa.

I don't want to order pizza, don't want to ask questions about the land mass of Greenland, just want to watch TV. I'm going with one of the services, not youtube tv because it's not available in State College. Right now, it's internet only until that firestick arrives next week.

Nope, you don't need to use Alexa, but you can link your Fire Stick to your Echo and it'll work like the remote for the Fire TV. Basically you can use voice commands and whatnot, give it a try.

I have an Amazon TV that has Firestick/Alexa built in. The "TV" is like a big monitor with built in apps for Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc. (you have to use firefox for Youtube). Of course you can use it as a TV but you need some sort of subscription for a video source. You can ask Alexa questions and have her navigate between apps but you can also just use the remote.

The voice activated remote is the only way to easily navigate that mess (Firestick) whenever I have to use it. Alexa - no need.
