For some of these who won their titles prior to being at a school, is it possible that they were still training at the RTC but not enrolled in the school at the time?

In regards to YD at Cornell, one can be an athlete at RTCs prior to college and I bet he spent a pile of time in the RTC practice

To clarify a bit … not every wrestler can do this. There are rules for high schoolers and unrostered college aged wrestlers to work out at an RTC.

No doubt.

But he wasn't competing for their RTC during the trials process. In fact, for what it's worth, I found a Tweet from Yianni during the run-up to his 2016 Cadet world title saying he couldn't wait to be part of Finger Lakes RTC.

Likewise Steveson. He was wrestling for the Minnesota Storm during the 2017 junior world team trials, when he was still a high school student, and for the Gopher RTC in 2018 after he enrolled at Minnesota.

Cowboy RTC - 2 (Caldwell won a U23 in 2014 (Fix; he won his junior title during his freshman year at Okie State)

There was no world U23 championships in 2014 ... this year was only the third year UWW has had a U23 world championship event (2017 was the first.)

Caldwell won a world university event sponsored by a group called FISU (the International University Sports Federation). Chris Perry won one that year, too. UWW (and its predecssor, FILA) don't have a world championship event for an age group called "university."

I didn't count World University Championships, World University Games, World Military Games, and other championships that aren't held annually for specific UWW age groups.

Chris got second that year. I didn't realize that wasn't an FILA event though. (it was before UWW)

It was a FILA event the same way Dave Schultz and the NYAC and the Dan Kolav tournament are FILA/UWW events. It was FILA-sanctioned, but it was not a FILA world championship.

You're right about Perry, but the UWW database lists him as the winner at 86 kg and Piotr Ianulov of Moldova as the runnerup. I see a bunch of contemporaneous accounts from various U.S. sources that say Moldova beat Perry 5-3 in the finals.
