I live in a very remote area. I can't find REAL hoagie sub rolls and cheese steak rolls. Can I find amoroso rolls on Amazon and if so, which kind do I order? Also I need the liquid cheese whiz not the glass bottle...

Check Aldi's if there's one around. The Aldi's near our house in NC carries Amoroso rolls.

Amoroso rolls in a plastic bag are pretty bad. I would try to find a good Italian bakery that might have them, get a large amount and freeze them.
This is what I was thinking also. I wonder if what you get in the bag is the same thing as the restaurant and I kinda doubt that

Good observation, plus they never go through the slicer properly. The State College Weis sells them but they always seem like they were frozen. I still end up buying them because they're better than most other rolls on the shelf but they're not great. The hoagie rolls are better than the Kaisers, I'll give them that.

I looked them up. Amazon has them. My app is saying they'd take a week to get to my house 2 hrs south of Harrisburg. For the reasons people mentioned above, this does not seem to be a good option.

I find it hard to believe you can’t get them just traveling north a little to Frederick and looking in Weis.

If you notice, when you go to a hoagie shop or grocery store that gets rolls delivered, they are never put in plastic bags. They use paper bags or corrugated trays. That does change the texture of the roll. Also, many people say when Amoroso moved across the river from Philadelphia, the change in water did affect the taste of the roll. I did spend some time last night researching this and really didn’t find any better solutions.

Agreed, if you are willing to go with the bagged ones
Bagged ones are far better than any other brand roll. Also, paper and tray delivery as mentioned are for consumption that day which would be great if I could get one on my kitchen counter in Ithaca but obviously that can’t happen. If they are held at a deli to the next day they will go in a bag. The bag traps moisture and will keep it fresher for a few days. Paper will absorb the moisture and in a short period of time you’ll have firewood or a giant crouton.

It’s not ideal, but they do freeze pretty well for even a month or so before they start drying out.

That is all correct, unfortunately, when placed in a plastic bag, the rolls will also absorb moisture as well and it changes the taste and texture.

I live in MD, did a little research for the Super Bowl, and sure enough Weis had them. Got the shaved sirloin from BJ's and the Amoroso's were awesome.

I mentioned this, basically.

But….again….if the choice is between plastic or none….since no one will ship in paper, I pick the plastic. They exceed every other option in the store.
