On May 24, 1935, the Cincinnatti Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-1, at Crosley Field. What is the historical significance of that game?

Well I consider myself pretty good at Phillies history and trivia but I have no clue. I am going to guess given the year that it involved some kind of terrible losing streak.

Johnny Vander Meer's second no- hitter in a row.

Edit: Well, that was wrong but I thought it was a pretty good guess cause I think Vander Meer played for the Reds around that time.

Good guess, but no. Didn't Vandermeer play a little later than 1935?
Yeah. Vander Meer started with the Reds in '37. He pitched his consecutive no-hitters in '38 against the Boston Braves and four days later against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Geez, he threw two complete games with only four days rest - what in the world.
