If anyone even remotely connected to Cassar in real life reads this, let him know he's one of my favorite wrestlers ever and I've enjoyed seeing a lot of them. For me, the peak was after Anthony won his national title last year and he basically gave a Stoic philosopher answer to a question. A reporter asked if he ever thought about transferring, and he replied that if he didn't start at Penn State, it was no one's fault but his own. Very, very few people have the mental maturity to believe that way and act accordingly.

This injury really sucks, and it sucks a lot of the fun out of 2020 for me, but I'm sure Anthony will do just fine as life goes along.

Ditto.

I’ll also miss that swag.

There's a Gopher heavyweight that feels a little more confident with Anthony out. Anthony is a great young man who overcame many challenges to win the National Championship last year...here's to a speedy and full recovery so his dreams are realized............

He'll always be one of my favorite PSU wrestlers. Last March I wrote an article on him, an article which Anthony read and enjoyed enough to tell me so. I'm so honored to have watched Cassar wrestle and I know, whether it's on the mat or elsewhere, that he'll get everything he wants from life.

Here's a link to the article and a brief excerpt if anyone is interested.

"Anthony Cassar oozes confidence. It’s readily apparent when you watch him wrestle or listen to how he conducts himself during interviews. He has the utmost confidence in his abilities, and possesses the will necessary to execute when the chips are down. Such bravado has drawn criticism, but it’s a font of strength for the newly minted national champion, an element of his character that has been integral in his search for this crowning moment."

Damn, didn't realize you wrote an article on him. I was hoping to write one (a real one this time) this week. Maybe I'll do it anyway, as Cassar has certainly been a highlight for this wrestling fan the past year-plus.

I have something brewing as well. I hope we don't step on each other's toes too much.

Write your articles, please (both of you). Fans will love them.

Speaking of such, there was a fabulous article on Anthony's journey written, I think, early last year. Can't find it, but will keep trying. Much to be added, for sure.

Somebody please check on @LemonPie

Poor guy hasn't been heard from since the news broke.
Hard for me to even acknowledge it. Absolutely devastating. And to occur in a non-folkstyle event... so frustrating. But in honor of the most handsome wrestler in PSU history, I will be sporting toothpick until after NCAAs. We all have a little pretty boy swag in us.

Thank you, Champ

Im at least relieved we don't have to go the Hoopes/endless speculation route. I think Seth can surprise some people... even if he has those patented slow Nevills feet.

You left out the semi-colon. ;)
To be on topic: I'm always reading these well after events. All the things I wanted to post about Anthony have mostly been said. I knew he was a great guy before he was a NC because I know he volunteered in previous summers at a camp that one of my son's former aides volunteered at as well. People that do stuff like that are worth their weight in gold.

Great story of a man never giving up on his dreams. A man of faith. A man of fun. A man of friends. His crew celebrating with him at nationals has to be something few guys experience, even when they win a NC.
