Any comment from our leaders on today's gratuitous attack?

From our BOT? From our elected alumni members? From anyone involved with Penn State?

Or are we just one more time going to stand idly by and let every asshole with an IQ below 70 say what they want?

What should all you mentioned do?

Why would they? They are no more concerned with a deceased former football coach then they are a deceased former Physics professor. You keep assuming these people are emotionally charged and connected - they are not.

If anything, they should address the issues of student safety at the Beav. There are some real potential liability issues with this.

Yes, just shocking that it is emanating from a "traditional b1g shizhole" source and media outlet.......I'm shocked I tell you, just shocked......LMFAO, more Shizholian yellow-journalism and slander but they're just a wonderful group of parochial, homer douche-bags......

This stuff will never ever end, until either the university stands up and buries Joe once and for all, or else stands up and defends him. If they don't, this stuff will go on ad infinitum. They've taken no public stance at all, and therefore even 5 years later it's still open season for any loser to make remarks.

Everybody gets stained when stuff like this keeps coming up, and if you didn't notice, now ESPN is carrying the story. It's not death by a thousand cuts, it's death by a million. They hoped it would all go away and die down, but they were wrong.

At this point, you'd think they'd have a final judgment on what he did or didn't do. Just get it out there and get it over with.

This stuff will never ever end.

All that needs to be said.

Was listening to a discussion the other day about the role of 'fake news' websites in this recent election and one of the journalists there said a study showed that refuting fake news with facts mostly did more harm than good - those who believed the fake news stories were likely to double down on their belief when confronted with facts. That's the mindset we're dealing with - we need to stop engaging them and let the courts do whatever it is that they're going to do; the sooner the better.

Bleacher Report just posted about 10 minutes ago now too. Comment section is always fun.

Please.....STOP!!!
FIRST...The reporting in the media from day ONE of the "Sandusky Era" has been designed to create/enforce an illusion of guilt at Penn State.

The comments from LB Levy only cement WHY such an absurd accusation would "play" so well with the public. The "play" is.... that college football is inherently corrupt and populated by mindless thugs - players - who have an IQ nearly equal to a common house plant!!! In this the public's mind...The players are scum...the programs are scum...the coaches are corrupt scum!! This is the foundation "public belief" on which a positive image can be turned negative.

Now we know that the previously "Squeaky Clean" image of Penn State ...will be exposed..." And Paterno's on-the-field successes have only been possible because Paterno cheats. See...the Sandusky matter says he not only cheats - he is "the Most Hated Man in the World".

This continuous media-enforced image is SO negative it makes the reality around truly dishonorable programs look "great" compared to PSU. This new and finally exposed Penn State negativity fits nicely into the campaign to destroy 61 years of "success with honor". The evil, criminal "Paterno" is a media construction which has been created ONLY BECAUSE (1) it is what most people WANTED to believe (2) is consistent with the corrupt image of college football generally.

By continuing this "Criminal Paterno" image in the public's eye, there is new episodes of undeserved pain within the Penn State Community. It is this pain which promotes the continuation of "Story" which originated in 2011 by the OAG "Team Porn-dog". Why...because the general population enjoys watching the futility of changing the "Story". Truth, Justice, Right, Wrong all meaningless today!!!

Yet today there exists expanding factual evidence that refutes this "Story" of PSU Criminality in Football. We are now at a point where it is reasonable to conclude (through several sources) that NO 2001 Criminal Shower incident happened - the MM "testimony" is "tainted" - which means the ENTIRE Penn State Connection is broken!!!

What DID happen was justice was replaced by media-induced PC (Politically Correct) standards which require no legal processes and no FACTS!!! Welcome to the new world of Justice.....Jerry Springer meets The Kardashians - broadcast on ESPN!

The success of this public illusion which was created by the OAG Grand Jury presentment and validated by bogus legal court action; then publicly confirmed by the Freeh Report (OPINION) and finally, continuously reinforced by the BOT- who its bizarre actions made public mountains of speculative MISINFORMATION, lies and speculation on even more lies.

This misinformation is what THOUSANDS of posts here debate
....we debate details of misinformation and then support our opinions with misinformation built on still more misinformation. Ironically, when real facts are brought into a discussion...we refute them by quoting MORE MISINFORMATION!!!

You need to understand that these "mis-steps" made by certain BOT members - mistakes, unforeseen, whatever "soft" excuse terms we use at the time....these are NOT random errors, but carefully constructed words, actions, no actions, no words designed to hide something much worse than the public's cornerstone belief in a "bad college football culture". It is designed to cover corruption at the highest level and it is designed to keep those that commit these crimes from ever being punished.

If the Penn State Community can't stick to the facts and still continues to argue over questionable, at best, statements, then what makes a linebacker's absurd "high point of College" statement seem so amazing??? Its all based on misguided MISINFORMATION!!!!

News flash: Nobody outside of Penn State message boards gives a shit. Keep making threads about stuff like this--it's exactly what many in the media aim for.

Nothing the university does or doesn't do is going to change anything....nor should we really care what others think.

So did Deadspin.
so did Profootballtalk.com. And I left a comment that basically said, JVP is the only one that actually did something, report JS to whom he was suppose to report it. I also said, the State of Pennsylvania failed in 1998, and Jack Raykovitz failed to do his job. that was about it. Long and short though, the comment was taken down, while the others remain. I don't understand.

There's a term psychologists use to describe this but I can't think of it. Someone posted on this board an explanation of this stubborn denial in the face of truth. It concerned advancing the truth in the Sandusky business and why it's so difficult. Anyone remember that post and that term used?

The only recourse is to kick their f'ing asses in the championship game.....

Hell, we had two presidential candidates do that exact thing for months and they went on to get tens of millions of votes.

I'm not sure what you expect the University to do. The guy doesn't like Paterno, so what? He thinks a dead man is a dirtbag.... that's his opinion. He can think whatever he wants, it really doesn't mean anything.

Well said.

Jive, the entire university, not just Joe, gets smeared when an asshole like this says something, and then it gets picked up by the entire media world. You, me, and everybody else associated with the school gets lumped into it. I frankly don't like that. Maybe you do. Would any other organization in the world never say anything, ever, as their brand gets attacked time and time again? It's beyond ridiculous at this point. They could say that the NCAA decided to take away all of their punishments. They could point to CSS and remind everybody that just about every charge has been dropped. They could remind everybody that nobody thinks the Freeh Report was worth anything and was just an "opinion". But nope, they are too gutless to say anything, and they stand by idly while morons take potshots at us fully realizing that nobody ever fights back.

Our so-called leaders won't defend Joe, and they won't cut ties with him, either. It's the worst possible solution. Gutless doesn't begin to describe them.

And here we see that relationship in action...the new Penn Stater Magazine must have had three or four ads promoting the Paterno Fellows Program.

Was a commenter on the article at the Detroit Free Press page who stated that even though Joe reported the crime to his boss after he WITNESSED the rape, he should have gone to the police after they did not act. There was so much wrong with that post, there was no sense in even trying to refute it.

All one has to do is to watch those on both sides of this past election including candidates, news reporters and voters to see where mankind has gone to in our country...Hell.

This is just another example. Maybe he will sit for the national Anthem in protest of the Sandusky Affair at the Lions next game.

Our BOT won't defend Joe because they have been told NOT to. Certain "forces" have been interjected into the BOT structure so that a "Story" like what has been public for the past 5 years could be constructed. Having control of the BOT allows OTHER crimes to be committed by the public's fixation with the "Story". The BOT still needs Paterno for the same reason they needed him when he coached....they need his money raising capabilities. It is ALWAYS about the money!!!!

As far as PSU not publicly stating all the POSITIVES you list above, the reason is this....the public story serves a purpose - it allows a group of elites to access the "Bank of PSU" without question and in large $$$ amounts.

It ALSO provides cover for a question I am SHOCKED no one noticed (one reason for so much misinformation).....WHO DID THE JANITOR SEE??? We know it was NOT Sandusky!!! Perhaps this is the motive for the entire Sandusky Situation - perhaps that is why we paid "nameless victims" Millions. Is our BOT - buying silence for one of their own??? -or- silence for one of their elite friends???

As long as the "Story" remains unchanged in the public's mind and unchallenged by an honest courtroom trial we will never know.

Remember it is always about the $$Money$$$.....within the State of PA, it is NEVER about the Victims!!!

So you hope they never ever take a stand? One way or the other?

Some role model you are.

Not against some no-name loser like this. All that does is validate the loser. Why would you want to do that?

Seriously... If you were in their shoes, what would your response look like?

Ignore the gnats.

I don't like it either, but our admin getting their panties up in a bunch and putting out a statement every time some no-name says something mean about Paterno is only going to fuel it to happen even more.

The haters are like a dog that wants attention. They chew up your shoe to get your attention. You yell at the dog, and he's going to keep doing it. You ignore him, and sure, he'll chew a few more shoes, but eventually he figures out that it's not working and stops.

If I had a nickel for every one of those 30 second intervals related to this saga I'd be a rich man.

An you would be even richer if our admin was dumb enough to put out a statement in "defense" of Paterno every time someone said something to cause one of these 30 second intervals.

If football was/is such a problem, why are the people (BOT) who tried to destroy the program lined up in their suits 4 hours before the game, entering their private tunnel, to take their private elevator up to their private suites, where they can consume complimentary beer, wine, liquor, which us plebians aren't allowed to have? Shouldn't they eschew the program and be at home reading leather bound novels in their private libraries?

You only need to do this when every no name says something mean when you make a half-hearted, half-assed effort. If the University had actually ever defended itself, and done so in an assertive way, this wouldn't be happening every few weeks for the past five years.

If you do it right, any would be detractors knows one of two things will happen:
1. They will be smacked down in no uncertain terms
2. They will look like a-holes for even trying.

Now, you would think that group purporting to be "trustees" of a community would strongly defend that community when attacked. Ours have blatantly done the exact opposite. The only explanation of that is there is something more important to them- money, power, or the need to cover their own transgressions.
