Any idea when we will get some results from Judge Covey's race?

We need Judge Covey.
Right now, just past 9PM, she's running a solid 4th in Allegheny County (4 points out of 3rd). I consider this a good sign because she did not run a lot of ads here.
Update..25% of Allegheny County in and she's still a solid 4th, still 4 points out of 3rd.
83% of Allegheny County and she's still 4th by 4+ points.

With a third of the vote in Philly she's running 1st, a very good sign.
Now 45% counted in Philly and she's 1st with over 29%. Third place has 16%+.
Now 54% counted in Philly and she's up 10 points over #2 Stevens.
Now 61% counted in Philly and she still up 10 points over #2.
2/3rds of Philly in and she's still first by over 10 points.
71% in for Philly & she's still 1st by 10+ points.
77% of Philly in and Covey still running strong with 10+ point lead over 2nd and nearly 13 over 3rd.

I should know this.....but there are 3 available seats this year - right?

If so, does that mean three move forward from each side of the primary (R and D)?
Yes and yes. Top 3 from each side face off in fall so 6 will run for 3 seats.

We need Judge Covey.
Right now (nearly 10) most of the votes are counted in Allegheny County & Philly. She seems certain to finish a strong 4th in Allegheny County and 1st in Philly. I am not tuned into the rest of the state but I feel good about these results.

We need Judge Covey.
I think it's safe to say, at 10:30 PM, based on the results so far, and what's left, Anne Covey will be on the ballot in the fall. Six will face off for three seats. I also think it's safe to say she will have a very difficult time getting one of those 3 seats unless she raises a ton of money. If you want her to have a chance donate money now. Don't wait. Early money attracts more money. She will need every dollar.

With 89% of the statewide vote in she is in 3rd.

Republican
STEVENS, CORREALE
10.60%
125,032 Votes

COVEY, ANNE
20.50%
241,899 Votes

WARREN, REBECCA LEE
11.37%
134,173 Votes

GEORGE, MICHAEL
21.86%
257,988 Votes

ALLEN, CHERYL
13.48%
159,001 Votes

OLSON, JUDITH F
22.19%
261,870 Votes

These results could be considered a repudiation of Corbett. Correale Stevens, who will likely finish last, was on the Supreme Court. He was appointed by Corbett in 2013 to fill the expired term of Judge Melvin. He was running tonight for election in his own right and got blown out.

And she needs money. Lots of money. With 3 seats up for grabs out of 7 total on the Court, this fall's Supreme Court election will be the most expensive in history. Most people know nothing about the candidates and so those running will need tons of cash to buy air time and get themselves known. Judge Covey needs donations and the sooner the better. Most people here realize the truth of the old saying "Early money raises the dough". If you don't get cash early, you typically get little at all. I am not involved in Judge Covey's election, but I believe she is one of the 3 best running and so I ask that if you feel the same, donate right away. Don't wait.

She won in Philly and all the philly suburban counties. She came in 1st or 2nd in Dauphin, Cumberland, Lancaster and York counties (Harrisburg- Lancaster- York and suburbs). That should hopefully put her in good form to raise money.

Interesting to look at the vote for her in certain counties.

Philadelphia is overwhelmingly Democratic, but also has a large group of PSU alums. In Philadelphia, Covey was the top vote getter of the Republicans running in the Supreme Court primary. She got 29.3% of the votes, with the next highest person getting 18.81%

The suburbs of Philadelphia have more Republicans than Democrats, and a huge number of PSU alums. Here's how Judge Covey did in the counties surrounding Philadelphia:

Bucks: Covey with 32.17%, next highest with 23.82%
Chester: Covey with 28.99%, next highest with 24.95%
Delaware: Covey with 26.85%, next highest with 20.21%
Montgomery: Covey with 28.22%, next highest with 23.08%

PSU Main is in Centre County. Covey received 22.14% of the vote, while Michael George got 22.22% and Judith Olson got 22.84%.

Northampton is another area with a large PSU alumni base. Covey got 24.81% of the votes there, with the next highest getting 20.89%. Schuylkill also has a large PSU alumni base, and Covey got 21.33% of the vote, with the next highest receiving 17.58%. Same with Berks having a large alumni base -- Covey got 21.75 of the vote, with the next highest getting 20.25%. Also the same with Lehigh and an alumni base -- Covey got 23.55% of the vote, with the next highest getting 20.80%.

Draw your own conclusions.
