I just finished Queen's Gambit, and I thought AT-J was terrific in the show. I found out that she was previously in the movies Split and Glass as a brunette, and I remember seeing her as a blonde in Peaky Blinders. She's only 24 years old, but she is a really fine actress and has become one of my favorites. And those eyes of hers--wow! Anyway, I thought she deserves her own thread since she is on her way to superstardom.

Breakout role was in ‘The Witch.’ Great young actress.

Sheesh... I know nothing about her, but she looks perfectly attractive to me!

I’ve been meaning to watch Split and Glass, and now I feel more motivated to do so. Heard great things about Queen’s Gambit too, I’ll have to check that out as well.
Queen's Gambit is a great watch if you are into chess. Otherwise, not so much.

It's a pretty great period piece chess interest notwithstanding.
I agree. The acting was great. This is my favorite mini-series of all time because I really am into chess. The series spent a lot of time on chess details. I'm surprised that people who aren't into chess would really like it.

I think people enjoy a peek behind the curtain so to speak; it's why Spelling Bee, sommelier, and hard core ballet documentaries are popular - few folks realize the amount of work and talent that goes into those activities. When you see what a kid at a ballet school in France does every single day, or how many calculations a chess player runs in his head before making a move, you get a whole new appreciation for the sport/activity.

Also two very good movies in the last year and a half. A new "Emma" that's substantial and quite funny. And "Thoroughbreds," a teen dark comedy thriller.

So many super talented young female actors right now. Just not enough roles for them. Elle Fanning's amazing, Florence Pugh is amazing. The young actress who played the lede in "Normal People" on Hulu, Daisy Edgar-Jones, is amazing and is going to have a big career.

Yeah - seems the young actresses are way outpacing young actors. In addition to the ones you mentioned, I'd add:

- Kathryn Newton
- Thomasin McKenzie
- Kaitlyn Dever

I thoroughly enjoyed both Split and Glass. Somehow I managed to watch the trilogy in reverse order, but it didn't seem to matter.

Haha, interesting... it’s almost as if you thought Memento had been made into a trilogy ;)

But good to know... I liked unbreakable a lot, so I’m not sure why I have waited so long to watch the other two. Then again, M Night Shyamalan waited years to make them, maybe I’m just mirroring him.

All movies about Spelling Bee’s begin and end with “Bad Words” with Justin Bateman.

I think it was total genius for Shyamalan to keep the fact that Splint was a sequel to Unbreakable until people actually saw it. You don't get surprises like that at the movies anymore.
