Anyone else think this year Michigan could beat Ohio State?

If Michigan can do what PSU was able to do in terms of forcing OSU to make deeper throws and reads, then yes, they can beat them. However, I think that Speith is gonna have a lot more trouble against tOSU's secondary than he has seen from any other opponent.

Michigan's only problem is that their QB is not very impressive, especially in the passing department. However, if UM's O-Line dominates like it can, duhOSU will be in trouble. UM won't have to pass very often.

Michigan's defense appears overall better than OSU's, but if the Ref's start calling defensive holding or interference on the UM DB's, who have been getting away with it universally (at least when they play PSU) then UM's defense will be less of an advantage. The main advantage OSU has is that the emotional rivalry game is in Columbus, and that is a pretty big advantage.

tOSU seemed to struggled w/ PSU's DL at times, I would think Michigan's DL will present even more issues up front for tOSU.

I agree that Michigan's O might not give tOSU as much of an issue b/c of the lack of mobility of their QB.

Also of note:
UM beat Wisky by 1 TD at home, after Wisky had multiple tough games in a row.
tOSU beat Wisky by 1 TD on the road at night.
UM beat a very young and injured PSU team at home.
tOSU lost to a young and much healthier PSU team coming off a bye at home at night.

I think UM has looked good, but not sure I would write off tOSU just yet.

The only problem is that it is in Columbus. that's a tough place for UM. I think its going to be a great game.

The only time I was sure Michigan would lose to tOSU was right after the Snow Bowl, where at the end of the game, PSU was punishing the UM line and Michigan was beat up. I thought tOSU would do the same. Then Biakabatuka rolls for over 300 yds. You just never know with that game.

If Michigan (with all of their 8th - 9th year) seniors can't beat OSU this year, well then it will be quite some time before they get another shot. I do think Michigan can win, OSU has more talent but Michigan has more experience.

UM's D is nasty, but I don't see UM scoring many in that match up either. I don't think you could use the 49-10 game and our game against OSU as a barometer for that one. UM is awesome this year and we walked into a perfect storm for a beat down, with 5 defensive starters out as well as some of those backups out on top of an overall young team to begin with. If we play that game next week we lose by 20 instead of 40.

Michigan looks powerful to me. Their defense and both lines are big, experienced, and dominating. Ohio State couldn't even block Penn State, and I never had the feeling the they could easily move the ball. And by the end of the game they seemed worn down. The only negative for Michigan is the QB and being on the road. But I don't think it matters.

Mad props to PSU for getting those guys this year. a tough gutty win.....

UM has a tough road in Cbus to try and get that win. I don't see it

If Michigan can't win this year with a team full of seniors that has all cylinders firing, they may never beat tOSU while Urbie is there.

for sure Michigan can win this year. Don't forget it's only year 2 under Harbaugh and while they are a veteran team, you can bet UM will be better in a few more years when Harbaugh's guys are in year 4 rather than Hoke's. Yes, Hoke recruited well but he didn't recruit as well as Harbaugh. Michigan is going to improve dramatically on offense when he gets his own guy at QB, RB, WR and OL.

Michigans offense is really good...and getting better. The Defense gets all the credit, but their offensive numbers are off the charts as well. Four deep and running back, best WRs in the BIG, best TE in the BIG. All the while, Speight is being coached up and improving leaps and bounds. Combine that with a DLine that rotates eight studs, and you have a special team. Still, a tall task to win at OSU...they will improve dramatically in the next month.
