I am leading a group of 7 on a motorcycle trip from South Jersey to State College. I have the route I want to take up to State College, based on where everyone will meet. However, I was looking for a different route back and was looking at coming across on 45 to the river and then catching Route 11 through Northumberland/Bloomsburg and onto 93 into Hazleton, and then working my way back east.

Anyone familiar with these roads? Are they very slow, full of trucks, traffic, etc? Is it a scenic route? The folks I am taking are not familiar with Pa, and I want to give them some decent roads/scenery for this trip.

We are leaving in a couple of weeks, leaving on a Saturday and coming back on a Sunday. So, our trip back through this area would be on a Sunday.

Thanks.

I like 45 to lewisburg
11 not so much-usually a little bottleneck in Norry and then to and thru Danville and Bloom not the most scenic of drives

Here's a thought
Take 45 to 662 to 54 Danville
Take 54 from Danville to Elysburg-make a stop at Knoebels then you have a few options

A) continue on 54 towards Mt Carmel to Route 61 (stop by and see me)
Continue on 61 to Centralia (the Mine Fire Town-the town that never was)
Then go to Ashland and stop for an ice cream at Mays
Then follow 61 to 81 up to hazleton

B) take 487 out of Knoebels to Catawissa and then to Bloomsburg and you can pick up route 11 there and continue on your original route

I can't advise taking 93 towards Hazleton on a motorcycle. Once you get past Nescopeck, the road is an absolute mess full of huge potholes and such. I just traveled through there, and it was bad in a car. Though scenic in parts, it's an absolute mess.

Sorry for the multiple messages--a great scenic route would be to get to Danville, take 642 to Lewisburg. Take either 45, or even better, 192 into Centre Hall. Take 144 to 26 in Pleasant Gap, then take 26 into State College.

192 would be more scenic and less traffic. Both go to Rt 15 in Lewisburg.

Thanks but we already have our way into State College. Looking for a scenic route out that does not involve heading into Harrisburg. Looking at a map, I was basically looking for a way to get to Easton and then we would drop down 611/32 (River Road) and head back to South Jersey that way.

I guess the real question I have - does anyone have any recommended roads between Lewisburg and Easton?

Traffic in Norry can suck during the week, but it isn't bad at all on a Sunday.

No reason to go thru Northumberland. Take 45 to Lewisburg. 642 to Danville. 54 takes you to around Allentown. Very scenic route.
