Donations to the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club are tax deductible. However, tax law requires us to estimate the value of goods or services that have been rendered to you in return for your contribution, and to remind you that your contribution is deductible only to the extent that it exceeds what we have provided. The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club is a tax-exempt, charitable, educational organization [IRS code Sec 501 (c)(3)]. The NLWC Tax I.D. # is 251408517.
After you complete your on-line sponsorship, we will follow-up to give you the estimate for the taxable amount of your sponsorship donation. In addition, we will send you a detailed receipt and confirm your business name/logo for the listing of sponsors. Depending upon your sponsorship amount, you will also be entitled to a number of complimentary golfers. In such case, we will also contact you to obtain the names, handicaps, and shirt sizes of your golfers, and to confirm a tee time for your group. Available tee times can be seen on the Club's website under EVENTS/REGISTRATION, hover over NLWC GOLF CLASSIC, and click on Registration.
It depends on how you give. For example, if you just make a donation in the form of joining the NLWC/PSWC at a level higher than the lowest $ level to join, that amount would be a charitable contribution. If you donate as a sponsor of the NLWC Golf Outing, the donation over the entry cost of the event would most likely be deductible. So if you donated $2500, you would get 4 entries. That has a value of $800. So the deductible donation would be $1700. You could of course say that there is a donation built into the $800, and 4 rounds at Toftrees and lunch is only worth $400. So you could write off $2100. It's all in how aggressive you want to be. If you get audited, you just need a decent justification for your amount you deducted.
