Are Zain & Nolf the best back to back threat today?

I personally don't know enough to answer this, but is there any better back to back wrestling tandem than Zain/Nolf at this point? So the criteria is not best 1-2 wrestlers on a team, but the wrestlers must be in adjacent weight divisions.
What do people think?

This would be a better question for the wrestling board. You also get some knowledgeable posters from opposing teams that will give some good perspective as well.

There are a few pretty good contenders there ... off the top of my head, probably missing some:
- Iowa 125/133, Gilman and Clark
- Cornell 174/184, Realbuto and Dean
- Ok State 165/174, Dieringer and Crutchmer

If today wasn't a fluke, then Brock/Heil for Ok State is up there too.

They are likely the highest scoring duo - hard to top when Nolf is running up 7-8 takedowns a match

Yes. These two and add Nico, Bo, and Morgan....PSU has a good shot at 5 National Champs !!!!

Reabulto is going DOWN against Bo ...not sure who is winning between IMar and Nolf ..but betting wise ..I'm putting my over/undeer at 32 pts ....that is going to be a 'battle royale'

I tend to agree with Mantle. Dean is a beast, but Realbuto is definitely not all that intimidating. Out of the back to backs mentioned, my vote would be Ringer/Crutch #1, Zain/Nolf #2, Gilman/Clark #3, Real/Dean #4.

Don't be too sure. Everyone thought Dake & Taylor would light up the scoreboard, but that never happened.

Agree. I think you could switch 2 and 3 and nobody would bat an eye. With the eight guys listed, you could be in single digits in losses by the end of the year....combined, barring injuries.

I think if you were to measure it on avg team points scored by the duo across all opponent teams' lineups Zain/Nolf could be #1.

Realbuto v Crutchmer could easily happen at the Scuffle, and again at the Okie St v Cornell dual on February 7th. I believe some are misjudging Realbuto, my opinion. He went up two weight classes and is growing into 174, and will get better as the season unfolds.

The Scuffle will be a great test for Bo. Butler will be there too, so he'll surely get at least one of Realbuto, Crutchmer or Butler, and could get two.

I was thinking the OP's question was more in regards to the NCAA Tournament. Which tandem will score more team points towards the ultimate prize. Could be wrong, though it's my opinion that would be the definition of the best tandem.

Could be. Back to back is more impactful in a dual IMO.

More "impactful" than the National Tournament? Could be that the 2nd wrestler feeds off the first, if it's a dual, but for my money, nothing means more than the NCAA Tournament.

I don't think you're following what I'm saying. Adjacent weights in the lineup does not guarantee as much proximity from a time perspective at the national tournament (although as you get closer to the finals it does get closer) as it does in a dual. It's just my interpretation of what the OP was trying to capture.

Thanks for the conversation. Shows the different ways to interpret the same question.
