Feeling bad for Gable....he was the man. Wonder how many more championships he would have won if he did not retire.

Thanks again Tom McAndrew for the wrestling articles.....I look forward to them every few days.

Great Gable article. Really reminds me of when I met him, shook his hand and took a picture with him at nationals in MSG. I didn't expect him to carry conversation with me, but he did for a few minutes. I told him that The first time I put on a singlet, I knew who he was and wanted to wrestle for him. He Asked where I was from and I told him WPIAL. We Talked about the rich history and great wrestlers there and he then asked me who had better wrestling District 7 or northeast Ohio. Of course I responded with District 7 but we both agreed that NE Ohio has great history. Made my nationals and I wil never forget. He was that cool even though I was decked out in my PSU gear.

I was cracking up when I read about Teske. Kid sounds like a small career 125. Of course, HR is hot for him. You can never have enough 120 pound guys on your roster (and they apparently have learned nothing from the Lee/Warner/Mejia/Renteria/Teasdale, .... situation).

To be fair, they want their team to be considered the pinnacle of college wrestling again. They see PSU bring in recruit after recruit after recruit with some questions of how they all will fit in. Well... they want all that at Iowa. And to be honest who can really blame them? You don't see me complaining where a RBY, a Joe Lee or even a Mason Manville is going to fit in do you?

There can be questions, but Teske is almost certainly a career (probably undersized) 125, as is Lee. To have them overlapping for four years doesn't make a lick of sense.

Oh I know, I don't get it myself but I'm sure the fans over on HR will make it work somehow. If I'm not mistaken, some slotted Teasdale in at 149 when they were trying to figure out how to get Lee, JRent and Meija in the lineup. Who knows, they may pencil Teske in at 184 to solve the problem. Lol

You are correct about the weight projections. It was going to be Lee, Mejia, Renteria and Teasdale going 125-149, which was just bizarre. 133 for Teske would be a real stretch. His dad says he's topped out at 130-135 walking around weight.

If I was Teske I would seriously look at ISU. It's the up and coming program.;)

This one truly saddens me. I realize many of you may not be interested, but for those here that knew Fred (I've known him a long time)... he joined us on the PSWC Bus Trip to Bloomington, IN for Big Ten's a little more than a month ago. We had breakfast together a couple mornings, and he was in heaven, attending a wrestling event, watching his favorite team. RIP

Thanks for sharing. In reading the obituary it reminded me of my Dad who died back in 2012. Brought back a lot of memories. The fact that he was able to do what he loved and be with his friends (and you with him) till the end is to me a blessing on both sides.

I was pretty sure you knew him, roar, and was hoping you'd share a story about him. As usual, you exceeded my expectations. Well done. RIP, Fred.
