Two well-written Wrestling articles in today’s CDT, one on the PSU /Lehigh rivalry, the other about Jason Nolf. Worth the reads.

Can’t post the links from my device, maybe someone else can?

EDIT: I'm changing the Subject Line to reflect that this thread has links to multiple articles posted online today

The article on Nolf is fantastic. The creativity with which he wrestles reminds me of the skillset of two professions: jazz musician and chess player. There is a conception that "improvisation" is just flying by the seat of your pants and making stuff up as you go. It's a misconception. Just as in Jazz music, real improvisation only occurs after one has mastered one's instrument through countless hours of practice and determination.

The chess part comes from learning from multitudes of scenarios that have been played out by other grandmasters throughout all time. Recognizing the math of a certain game and using it to your advantage, and further, to expand upon it to create unanticipated moves that one's opponent could not visualize even happening.

In summary, he is nothing short of a wrestling genius. We should truly appreciate him every single time he takes the mat, because he is the epitome of "we won't see anyone like him for a long while."

Excellent Nolf article, and, as you say, well-written indeed. Thanks Roar and thanks linkers.
