there's a taco truck parked at back of Star Bar on 6th and Nueces - and conveniently across the way from Parlor &Yard where the PSU alumni are watching games this year.

Violet Taco (Valentina's).

Just had the Smoked Brisket - brisket, guacamole, and Serrano salsa.

It think it just outdid my previous favorite - Torchy's Trailer Park (served Trashy Style)

Is it a 2nd location for Valentina's? I've heard that place is great but they are down south and I live north. If they are downtown now I might be more apt to check it out. And yes the trashy trailer park is divine! :)

Side note, have you been to any of the game watch parties? If so, what did you think of the new location? I really liked Mr. Tramps and I'm skeptical of the new place but I haven't been yet. From the photos it doesn't look like a sports bar to me though, they seem to have few TVs and in most of the photos I've seen those in attendance don't seem to even be looking at the TVs. If they would project the game on the wall so we could sit outside I'd definitely be more interested.

I haven't been to a game there yet. I work on 9th and San Antonio so pass by it a lot. It's not that big, but they do have an outdoor area. Hopefully I can make a game later in the season. I liked seeing the PSU flag flying there every day and thought maybe one of the owners was a grad, but then I found out that was where the Alumni Club had watching parties.

I believe it is the 2nd location for Valentina's (or they just use their BBQ). The other one is in the parking lot of the Brodie Mart of all places and is packed most of the time. Totally random place to set up shop though it is right next to a "Smoke and Chill" shop so maybe it makes perfect sense;)

I don't think the outdoor area is used for the game watch, I don't believe they have any TVs outside which is a waste of space if they are trying to be a sports bar. I was really surprised they left Mr. Tramps, that place took great care of us and had a really good setup with a private room with huge projectors, great beer selection, food made from scratch, excellent waitstaff service and plenty of free parking. Mr. Tramps had a few different universities watching there (USC for one) but PSU always got priority if there was a conflict. The new chapter leaders didn't mention why they changed locations when I asked. Downtown is always harder logistically, parking is an issue and getting priority over other games can be a problem, particularly UT games when the bar is that close to campus. I've chosen to watch from the comfort of my couch instead.

I've been to a few games at Parlor and Yard.

Completely different atmosphere than Mr. Tramps - which is good/bad.

The good
- much, much larger crowds than Mr. Tramps. Tends to me more recent grads and it's fun to see new people
- Raffle at half time is much bigger - raising more $ for the scholarship fund.

There's not a "huge" TV - but there are plenty of screens that are all reasonable size so watching the game is no problem

- Atmosphere was fun .. but it's probably more of a social event as opposed to a dedicated game watching event - but this is probably biased by the fact the games I went to were Kent St and Pitt, which were not overly exciting to watch. Second half of Pitt was pretty lively.

The not as good..
- seating is more limited (although Mr. Tramps would have problems with a crowd the size at Parlor and Yard
- parking and getting to downtown is more challenging for me

In general, I think the move as a good thing and I understand why they did it.

This was one of my fears when I saw the photos and noticed many seemed to be socializing instead of looking at the TVs. I actually want to watch the game when I go to a game watch which is why I don't think I'll be going to P&Y. Hopefully they at least have the audio of the game on.

I also noticed the crowd looked much younger than in year's past. That's not necessarily a bad thing and it's probably a product of being downtown where the younger folks are more likely to live and congregate. I actually used to think the watch parties had way too old and boring of a crowd years ago when we met at Mulligan's in Lakeway and that terrible sports bar in the basement of the Holiday Inn near Mopac & 183. Those locations were not good. The crowd got younger and larger when they moved to Mr. Tramps and per your comments it seems that has continued with the move to P&Y.
