B1G No longer affiliated with Holiday Bowl. Will replace that affiliation for Las Vegas Bowl (to be played in the new NFL stadium) and Belk Bowl (Charlotte).

Good news...Vegas around the holidays! Awesome move. That Delaney...

Might have to adjust the amount of onion dip taken on junkets. Holiday Bowl paid $6.3m. Belk $4.5mm and Las Vegas $2.8mm, thought the latter should be adjusted upward when the game moves to the Raiders stadium.

Another change. B1G and SEC will no longer rotate between the Gator and Music City bowls, with the B1G anchored in Nashville. Better payout, $5.1mm v. $3.8mm (actually $4.5mm when averaged).

Vegas is cool and all, and would be awesome to see Penn State play in a bowl game there, but I dont see the Nitts playing in either of those games in the next 3-5 years :).

Feel like Holiday Bowl has more tradition around it than the other two —— this is net negative.
Charlotte and Vegas are both cheaper flights for me than San Diego, so I won’t object.

Las Vegas bowl has been on ABC for a while vs. Holiday being on ESPN, but not sure that matters much anymore.

The Las Vegas Bowl

In 2020, the Las Vegas Bowl moves from UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium to the new Las Vegas NFL stadium. In the course of the six-year deal, the SEC and Big Ten will each make three appearances against the Pac-12 in the Las Vegas Bowl. It’s expected to be either the third or fourth Pac-12 team after the Rose and Alamo Bowls are filled. It’s unknown what selection the SEC and Big Ten would send from their respective conference.

This will mark the first Pac-12 and SEC non-playoff bowl matchup since the 1989 Freedom Bowl. The Pac-12 currently plays bowl games against each of the Power 5 conferences except for the SEC. The two conferences have played in only nine non-College Football Playoff/New Year’s 6 bowls.

The Belk Bowl

The Charlotte-based bowl will rotate an SEC or Big Ten team, based on which league is in the Las Vegas Bowl. The Charlotte Bowl annually will feature an ACC team between 2020-25 against either an SEC or Big Ten team, with each league making three appearances. If an SEC team is in Las Vegas, a Big Ten team will be in Charlotte, and vice versa.

The Music City Bowl

Starting in 2020, the Nashville-based bowl will feature an SEC vs. Big Ten matchup each season.

The Outback Bowl

The Tampa-based bowl will still feature an SEC vs. Big Ten matchup, as it has since 1995. However, starting in 2020, when a Big Ten team earns a berth to the Orange Bowl, an ACC team will take the Big Ten’s place in the Outback Bowl. This arrangement previously was with the Citrus Bowl.
…………..
Starting with the new bowl cycle in 2020, here are the guaranteed minimum bowl tie-ins per conference (not including any teams that appear in the College Football Playoff):

ACC, SEC – 11

Big Ten – 9

Pac-12 – 8

Big 12 – 7

American – 7

Conference USA – 7

Mid-American – 6

Mountain West – 6

Sun Belt – 5

At the barbecue chicken, brisket, smoked sausage, tacos, to name a few....but the best was the free Manhattan's at the bar......we even got free Belk Bowl logo blankets!

Free Manhattans, will you take me next time.

I was stunned to tell you the truth. I flew to Charlotte on Christmas day to be with my son and we were joined by my other son on Thursday. Our plans included driving to the Citrus via a short stop in Savannah. So my son who works for Belk said "hey, I picked up tickets for us to the Belk Bowl, let's check it out." Ironically, on our bowl tour, we had done the Belk along with the Music City when PSU was on probation. As an aside....The Music City Bowl experience was great!
Anyway, we ended up with tickets to, I believe "The Gridiron Club" which included open bar and a pretty extensive buffet for the entire game. I didn't focus much on the game. The Citrus Bowl made up for the great day at Belk! It was so damn hot and PSU only played about a quarter of football.

Holiday Bowl started in 1978; Las Vegas Bowl in 1981 (OK, it was in Fresno as the California Raisin Bowl when it started)
