More losses than wins.

AJ Burnett has been hit hard three starts in a row.

You just canned Worley.

Morton with 5 straight defeats.

It will be difficult to hold onto the post-season based on the recent trends of this staff. Other than Cole the rest are a tad shaky.

Other than Cole? Good job ignoring Liriano. And forgetting how they took 3 of 4 from the Cards before the break. Pretty weak trolling.

Before tonight the Bucs had played 100 games. Despite all their failings, this pathetic example of a baseball team has managed the 3rd best record in all of baseball. By the way, Morton does not have 5 straight defeats.

In all fairness Cincy, the Cards series can be called an anomaly with respect to Division play. Truth is they have a bad record vs. the Central, and if I recall correctly they weren't very good vs the Division last year either. That will kill you if you're trying to win the Division. Losing to the Reds the way they do and getting beat five of the last six against the Brewers is inexcusable.

They were 4 games under .500 against the central last year. 14 games over .500 the year before. Its tough when you're in the best division though.

And it's the best division because we're in it.

You're right about that, though I'd expect them to play far better against the Division than they have so far this year. But, baseball can defy logic at times. If they can get two of the next three, they will have run through this 16 game gauntlet (12 on the road) at .500. Not too bad considering.

My Reds OWN the Pirates (counting tonight as a win, we have an 8-2 record vs. the Bucs) and Nationals (5-0 record).

As for my Reds 19 games under .500 record against the 27 OTHER MLB teams, I have no excuse. :)

I completely forgot there was a game tonight before I saw this thread. Maybe in 2017 for Cincinnati. Man, it should have been 2012. :-(

I'm hearing Jay Bruce to the Mets and maybe Chapman to the Giants. That makes the Giants very scary. Reds really are doing a complete housecleaning. Still, I look at that lineup and can't understand how they were so bad this year.

From my POV, the Reds don't seem to have a good clubhouse chemistry. That sort of stuff does matter, especially in baseball.

You're right --- even with the injuries (Bailey, Cozart, Mesoraco), they should be better than this. Disappointing season. I've really checked out on them for 2015.

If they play just .500 ball against the Reds/Brewers, St. Louis is chasing them rather than the other way around.

Well take it from experience, the rebuilding process, if done right, can be an interesting time for a true baseball fan.

I wasn't ignoring Liriano one bit. He strikes out many batters but is prone to the odd start wherein he can't find the strike zone and leaves in the 3rd inning. If he were more consistent I would not call him shaky. As for the 3 out of 4 from Cardinals - yes impressive - but being 17-25 against their own division is a HUGE problem. That record is good for last place based just on division record.

IMHO the other teams in the division do not respect them. Many have played against the hapless version of the Pirates and have not yet given this team respect - nor should they until the Pirates earn it. The other teams play Pittsburgh, they expect to win and play with aggressiveness and confidence as a result.

Sorry to be negative but the Pirates will not win this division until they play at least .500 against these teams. Taking 3 out of 4 from the Cardinals was a great start but on cue they then drop 3 in Miller Park and got off to a horrendous start last night in Cincy.

Their lead over the Giants is not that much and the Giants with Chapmen should they land him are down right scary. This year's post-season appearance may come down to beating the Cubs head-to-head.

Time will tell.

Except the Giants didn't get Chapman. And the Pirates looked fine against a division-mate tonight behind one of those shaky starters (by the way, Locke's ERA in June and July? 2.90....SHAKY!!!!).

Oh, and as for Liriano being "prone to the odd start wherein * * * he leave in the 3rd inning." Liriano has started 20 games this season. Number of times he didn't pitch at least 5 innings? Once. Out of 20 starts, he's gone at least 6 innings and given up less than 3 earned runs 15 times (a QS). 2.92 ERA, 1.06 WHIP. Yeah, really prone to those odd starts.

So basically, other than everything, you're spot on. Again, weak trolling.
