Bad news for PA AA 182s

Seriously ... I didn't see it, but my guess would be a Nolf-like takedown, cut, and throw.

How does one score 7 points in 12 seconds with 3 PT NF rule?

not common, but there are various ways it could happen, including:

1. esc, then a quick TD, then 3 NF plus an additional point for stoppage for a) blood time, or b) injury time

2. esc, then a quick TD, then 3 NF plus an additional penalty point on a technical violation by the defensive wrestler

3. TD to back, 2 NF in 1 hold, then switch to another hold and get 3 NF

4. esc, TD to back, 2 NF in 1 hold, then 2 more NF in another hold

5. reversal, 2 NF in 1 hold, then 3 NF in another hold

both the offensive wrestler and the ref would have to be moving pretty quickly to get that many points in that short a time, but it is possible in HS wrestling.

I get it from a scoring standpoint, from a movement standpoint that has to be insanely quick to get a TD, NF, then show you've clearly released the hold and tilt him back over for a full set.

Did it say 7 straight points? TD or R, cut, feet to back. Gotta be more likely than many of the other scenarios laid out. When I say cut it could be the Nolf release, then pick up the cradle as soon as ref signals 1.

???

My guess for the 7 is TD, escape, TD, 3 backs. It didn't say the opponent didn't score.

Good call -- make that Bad News for AA 170s. He dropped today, got another first period pin.
I heard rumblings. Somebody really good is going to get bumped out of that line-up. Heck, even their three or four freshmen are solid.

Oliver vs. Garcia at States, perhaps?
Maybe, though I'm not sure that would be the state final or even at all. I think he'll get to states, but obviously not idea what kind of draw he'll get.

Offhand, without doing any research: I'm pretty sure Cody Mulligan (Saegertown) returns at 170, and IIRC one of Chestnut Ridge's McGill brothers is there too. Maybe also Giovanne Sanders (Jeannette)? One of the Edsell brothers from Wyalusing beefed up, not sure if he's 170 or 182. (Also assuming Robbie Patrick is 160.)

Looking like a really solid weight at Hershey.

Giovanne Sanders hasn't wrestled at all this season and isn't wrestling the postseason. Did not get cleared from a concussion during football season unfortunately

PA Power Wrestling Rankings for 170 (2/1/2017):

1. Jacob Oliver Huntingdon
2. Jared McGill Chestnut Ridge (was at 132 last year)
3. Dalton Group Susquenita
4. Gavin Wilkerson Reynolds
5. Julian Gorring Fort LeBoeuf
6. Nate Bradley Athens
7. Zach Cassidy Harbor Creek
8. Gaige Garcia Southern Columbia

Mulligan is listed as #1 at 182.
Edsell is listed as #3 at 160.
Robbie Patrick is listed as #2 at 152 (behind Edmond Ruth). I, too, thought Patrick was at 160.
Gio Vanne Sanders is indicated as injured (170)

I'm sure these weights are not set just yet, but I would think there won't be too awful much movement from this point forward.

If those rankings become the regionals results, then Garcia and McGill would both be in the same side of the bracket, and away from Oliver.
